Hutch33 Posted March 4 Posted March 4 (edited) I'm buying out the lease on my 2021 Lexus rx450h Sport, and the dealer is asking if I want to get the car rust proofed when I come in for the transfer. Are the dealer options worth it? Are there better options? Dealer- 1. Undercoat/ soundshield. $649 +HST 2. Rust inhibitor Spray $649 +. 3. Corrosion Control Module $1299 + Also is there a manufacturers rust warranty without Lexus extra rustproofing? Thanks for your help! Cheers Edited March 4 by Hutch33
RX400h Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Quote The 2021 Lexus RX 450h Sport comes with the following warranty coverage: Basic Warranty: 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Corrosion Perforation Warranty: 72 months with unlimited distance. Hybrid/Electric System Component Warranty: 96 months or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Maintenance Warranty: 12 months or 10,000 miles, whichever occurs first2. Powertrain Warranty: 72 months or 70,000 miles, whichever occurs first2. Roadside Assistance Coverage: 48 months with unlimited distance2. So, if you encounter any issues related to rust perforation within the first 72 months, Lexus has you covered!
Hutch33 Posted March 5 Author Posted March 5 And that summary is the basic coverage? Do you recommend getting rust protection at 36,000 miles?
Dean2 Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I would never undercoat a 3 year old car and to be honest, I would never undercoat a new car in high salt areas. All that does is trap anything that is already there and anything that gets in behind the undercoating. I would get it well cleaned underneath then have it Crown or RustCheck oil protected. We see a lot of salt up here just like you do in Ontario, those two are consistently the best at slowing down corrosion.
