fr33m3ll Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 Hey there, I have a 2007 RX400h, and the rear brake/reverse light assembly (see attached image of which part I mean) got shattered somehow. I am going to the salvage yard tomorrow to hopefully grab one off of an '06 they have there, but I'm not sure how to remove the assembly. It's the light that goes up with the tailgate, so I'm guessing you have the remove that plastic panel that is on the tailgate/hatch? I was able to pull off one corner of it, and it looks like the entire thing is just held on with plastic tabs, but I was afraid to go any further on my own before ruining it. In addition to that, there are a ton of wires/harnesses under there compared to the assembly just to the right of it. Funnily enough, I have the replaced the rear taillights (the light assembly that's not on the tailgate/hatch) in the past, and while that was difficult, it was done with a 10mm wrench to unbolt 3 bolts, and after unclipping one harness the whole assembly pulled out. Easy. This one seems to be a little more difficult. Anyone have any ideas or help? I looked for a diagram of what's underneath that big plastic panel on the tailgate/hatch but to no avail... Thanks all!
RX400h Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 Quote Replacing the tailgate light assembly on a Lexus RX400h involves several steps. Here’s a general guide based on the information I found: Open the hatch and remove the covers, scuff plate, and trim pieces to access the taillight connectors and nuts1. Disconnect the connectors and remove the three nuts holding the taillight assembly. Remove the old taillight assembly and transfer the light sockets and ballast connector to the new one1. Reinstall the new taillight assembly and secure it with the nuts and connectors. Reinstall the covers, scuff plate, and trim pieces and check the weather stripping.
