Prenger745 Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 Hello, I have a 2006 Lexus Es330 with 123000 gentle miles on it. It had a pretty significant oil leak when running. It is not valve cover gaskets. My neighbor thinks it is either the upper oil pan gasket/seal or the front crank seal. He leans towards the upper oil pan gasket because there is not oil flung all over the hood. He thought someone that deals with these cars a lot might know of a common failure that would cause this leak. Any thoughts? Thanks!
RX400h Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 Hello, Daniel. Mechanics would typically add a fluorescent dye into the engine oil, run the engine for a period of time (or have you return after a number of days driving, then use a UV detection light to see where the leak or leaks are originating.
Prenger745 Posted April 24, 2023 Author Posted April 24, 2023 I was hoping that someone might know of a generally common failure in this model. For example, it is a common failure on Hyundai's (of certain years) to have lower control arm susceptible to really bad corrosion.
