ruckus2000 Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 I am becomming real fustrated with this problem I'v tried a oil change and a tuneup and I still get a ticking sound the sound only comes after the engin has heated up. can some one help me out? The car still runs extremly smooth and you would not eving notice that ther is a problem. The car is a "99 es300 with 110k". Please email me at beballor@yahoo.com

mburnickas Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 I agree- So I guess Lexus use shims for the valves and are not hyd? Also what weight oil are you using? Maybe try a thicker oil. Example, if you are useing 5w-30 try a 10-30.

Is it a constant rythmatic ticking or erratic and variable? does the ticking speed up when you depress the accelerator? Does it do it while driving and when just in N or P reving the motor? open the hood, can you pinpoint the ticking. Is it the fuel injectors? or does it come from down low? lastly, could it be a loose heat shield. steviej
