andrewpoon Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 hello! i have a 98 GS400 with the premium sound system. about 2 weeks ago my CD changer stoped playing CDs, it won't read them at all. from what i've been told, lexus service won't even crack those things open to look around, they just replace them. any suggestions? could i take this thing apart and try cleaning the lens or would it not be worth the trouble? thankyou in advance for any advice you guys may have :) ~andrew
PIONEERSUBY Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 TRY CLEANING THE LENS WITH WINDEX ESPEICALLY IF SMOKERS IN THE CAR. SOUNDS LIOKE LASERS OUT IF CLEANING DOESNT WORK. I WILL SEND A WORKONG MECHANISM FOR 125.00 . YOU WILL HAVE TO SWAP OUT THE PCB BOARDS AND BOARD SUPPORTS TO THE WORKING MECHANISM FROM YOUR BROKEN ONE BUT ALL OTHER PARTS WILL BE REPLACED BY SWITCHING OUT TO WORKING MECH. . IT WILL BE CHEAPEST WAY TO FIX IT. I WILL SEND SERVICE MANUAL AND DIRECTIONS TO SWITCH OUT THE PARTS.
andrewpoon Posted August 27, 2004 Author Posted August 27, 2004 thanks pioneersuby, i took a quick look inside my glovebox, but i couldn't figure out which part contained the laser for the changer. i will investigate more this weekend and let you know if i'll need the part. a
