blue ridge
I recently purchased my first Lexus, a 2001 GS 300. The owner's manual, on page 183, discusses driving in M mode for the GS 300. It says that 2 warning tones will sound when you try to do any one of three things: attempt to downshift when it is not possible due to high speed of vehicle; attempt to downshift fron "2" position; attempt to upshift from "D" ( I think they mean "5") position. I don't get the audible tones when I attempt to upshift or downshift. I had an IS 300 as a loaner for a few days and it provided audible tones. When I asked the service tech and told him what the manual said, he said that the GS 300 doesn't have the audible tones. Is he correct? Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks. Dr. D
I have a 2003 GS and I have heard audible tones when shifting. Some of them are from my wife having a fit at my speeds. I do believe the tones came to life in 2002.
