  1. I have a 2003 GS and I have heard audible tones when shifting. Some of them are from my wife having a fit at my speeds. I do believe the tones came to life in 2002. Chech your owners book again and then ask the question again to the mechanic.

  3. You are the lead here. Just tell them with new tires it's a deal. If not walk away and wait till they call you back.
  4. I agree with you on the German cars, We just let loose of a E320 which cost me about 600.00 every time I took it in for "routine" service. BMW is just about as bad. I bought a 2003 GS300 with 14K for 29,500 and could'nt be happier. My wife loved the MB E300 M1A1 Abrams tank feel and it cost about the same to keep on the road. After driving the GS300 she fell in love with the luxery/sporty feel of the car. I am a died in the wool Harley rider too. One thing I know for a fact, is that the Japanese engineering is far ahead of all others, but I still ride a Harley because that's what it is. Same with cars. life is short so drive what you like but be willing to pay the price and don't whine if you choose poorly. I have to remind myself of that every 2K when I am changing 3 kinds of fluids in my HD. I drive a GS because I get tired of nursing US models back to health so often. I guess I am a motoring schizophrenic.
  5. I got a 2003 GS with 14K for 29,300. The point is if you check NADA.com and Kelley.com you can comparison shop. Don't let the glitz get to ya. The price seems reasonable but I bet you can do better if you make the dealer call you back and let HIM sweat a bit. A GS will run till you are molding in your grave so don't be too great a hurry. Do your homework and settle on YOUR price. A warranty sounds good but the GS needs very little work. If you can get $ off the price and use that money for something else do it. Even if the air conditioner goes out ( not likely) you will still not spend the 3.000 it warranty actually will cost you. That warranty monsy is built into the price so again, go slow. If peace of mind is worth it; go for it. One thing for sure, you will love the GS <>< Dr. D
  6. I just bought a 2003 GS300 with 14,000 miles and paid 29,500, it was 31,100.00 out the door with all tax, tags, etc. I have not found one for less that 33,500 yet even on eBay with comparable mileage and equipment. Check the NADA.com and kelly blue book and then come to a no compromise price in your own head. Also, a carfax search can keep you out of trouble. I found the previous owners name and phone number in the glove box and gave them a call just to check out the condition when they sold it. Comaprison shpooing is the real key to purchasing any car. Make them sweat and call you back; don't appear too eager. :whistles: There are loads of great cars out there so go slow. Dr. D
  7. I had the "smoke" problem in a Tundra. I found a product by STP at an anvance auto store. It is a spray bottle of stuff that worked very well. It is in a gray STP spray bottle and I think was called Scnt Away. It was a great product. Dr. D
  8. Telefunken, Thanks for the info. I agree with you on the German cars, We just let loose of a E320 which cost me about 600.00 every time I took it in for "routine" service. I appreciate the reply. :) <>< Greg D.
  9. ;) I own a beautiful 2003 GS 300 and I have a question about routine service. It appears that every 15,000 miles drive shaft flange bolts need to be torqued. Does anybody know the torque values? <_< Does anyone know if this is really needed EVERY 15, 000 miles? I can be reached at gregwendy@hotmail.com Thanks, Greg D.
