thels400guy
Hi Everyone! I am a new owner of a 93 LS400 that needs some work. Does anyone have any recommendations regarding engine oil? I know that Lexus recommends 5W30. I am currently running Delo 400 15W40 and AutoRX to clean the engine up. Is there any point in running synthetic 0 or 5W30 for fuel economy? Does the ATF drain pan have a plug? Thanks! :)
93LSOwner
Welcome to the club. And congrats on the new Lexus. What color is your car. There have been several post regarding wheather to use synthetic or not. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...01&hl=synthetic http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...41&hl=synthetic Basically, search for the word "synthetic" and you will find a lot of great posts. thels400guy
Thanks! I have a Black Onyx LS400. The consensus seems to be Mobil1 5W30 or 10W30. I seem to be the only person on the board running Delo400.
93LSOwner
Yup, you are right. How many miles does your car have right now. People use 10W30 when the car has more miles on it, I'm think more than 150k. BTW: You have my favorite color.
thels400guy
Actually 93 I like the Black but I would have loved to get a Silver. When I purchased the LS400 the dealership did a crappy job washing and waxing the exterior, really sloppy. I ended up doing a quick wash and wax which still takes several hours to do and it looks ten times better. I just noticed that you have a Silver, maybe we can trade...HA! Forget black the silver is better! My car has a little over 120K. Not too bad I think for its age I think. As for the oil I will stick with a Heavy Duty Engine Oil like Delvac or Delo400 after my AutoRX treatment.
