  1. If you have no success with the above instructions, you might look at the document at this link:

    http://www.box.net/shared/o55c5697lt#/shared/o55c5697lt/1/9328827/92954407/1

Refer to page BE130. I hope this is helpful.

Do you know where the Wireless Door Lock Control Receiver is?

Is it under the passenger seat?

    Thanks.

your profile indicates you have something other than an RX series

vehicle. You might try searching this site in your

    model's section. Good luck.

  2. Greetings, I have a torn window rubber on my driver's side door that allows wind to come in when I drive. Needless to say this causes extremely loud and irritating noise when I driver on the freeway. I want to know where I could buy replacement rubber and how I could go about repairing it myself. I would like to repair it myself if at all possible to learn more about cars and car repair. Is there an instruction manual that I can reference or perhaps some internet source?

    Thanks

    P.S. The vehicle is a 2000 RX 300

    Try JC Whitney:

I just purchased a replacement door weatherstrip that worked well. Call them to see if they have what you need. Good luck!

  3. ANY DETAILS ON REPLACINMG THE TIMING BELT WOULD BE A GREAT HELP ,GOING TO DO IT TO MORROW ,

    THANKS

    PETER

    Go to the following website:

    http://www.box.net/shared/o55c5697lt

Choose the document titled "Engine Mechanical (EM) file.pdf" This will give you step-by-step instructions. You might also find some useful information at the following site:

Popular opinion says to replace the water pump since this would be a duplication of labor. Good luck!

  4. I have 110,000 miles with no problems. Dealer recommending I change the timing belt because the life expectancy is only 100,000 miles. I am starting to hear some chirping but don't know if it is related. I travel alot and don't want any problems on the road. Would appreciate comments/suggestions. He says it's a 5 hour job and will cost $550+.

You have been blessed. Had mine changed at 99K miles. You certainly don't want to have a failure while traveling. Plan on changing the water pump at the same time since doing it later is pretty much a duplication of labor.

  5. Hello, I am new here. First I'd like to say that some posts on this forum are very useful and helpful (more than the other results on Google).

My car got hit by lightning (luckily nobody was hurt) and now it's experiencing a whole lot of problems. I've managed to localize the problem to the ECM. I opened up the ECM and looked for any physical damage, but I couldn't find any (very complicated motherboard) and I'm no computer specialist. Since I know the ECM is the problem, I can either repair it or replace it. Repairing looks like it will cost alot of money and may not be successful (very unlikely situation for me). I want to buy a used ECM (same model, trim, engine, etc.) however I am wondering if the car will be fine if I just swap the ECMs. Basically, I would like to know if its possible to just swap a used one in, or if I have to program, how so. Programming at the Dealer sounds like it will cost alot if they are willing to program a used ECM (very unlikely I believe). Key programming is not a big deal, very easy to do and I have done it before. My main concern is the rest of the ECM settings.

    Concur with cduluk.

There are some downloadable documents that may help with your troubleshooting at the following link:

    http://www.box.net/shared/o55c5697lt

Almost all of them have something to say about the ECM but you might start with the SFI file. Good luck!

  6. Hello everyone.

I just purchased my father's '99 RX300 and on the way home (250 mile trip) the check engine light came on. I took it to Autozone to have it scanned and it came up with two codes:

    PO446

    aaEVAP system vent control circuit

    Probable cause

    aa1-Open or short circuit condition

    aa2-Poor electrical connection

    aa3-Faulty vent control selenoid.

    The other code is PO171

aaSystem too lean- bank 1 (Cylinder number 1 denotes bank 1)

    Probable cause

    aa1-Lean Air/Fuel ratio-fuel injector or vacuum leak

    aa2-MAF sensor concern

    aa3-ECI sensor fault

    aa4-Faulty HO2S (heated oxygen sensor)

Now a little background. Original owner now 70 years old. Car has 52K miles mostly city and has probably only seen passing gear a dozen times in it's life and probably never over 60 mph. Always fueled with regular octane, ECT always in normal position. Never a single issue or repair outside normal tires, brakes and routine service. So that's how it was driven all it's life.

Now I get in it and drive it like I stole it all the way home in ECT Power, in passing gear almost as much as it wasn't, held 85 mph for several miles and made the 250 mile trip in 3 1/2 hours including stopping to let the dog out for 15-20 minutes, all in holiday traffic. Just to give you an idea of how I drove it as opposed to what it had been used to. Not at all advocating my driving style. It was actually when I stopped to walk the dog that I noticed the light stayed on when I got back on the road again. So my question is where do I start first? My gut tells me I blew 10 years of carbon build up out the exhaust and affected the O2 sensor but I've been doing some reading here and understand there are 2? and that it's not uncommon to have MAF issues with these. Oh, and I managed to keep a 21 mpg average as opposed to my fathers 23 hwy. Any suggestions (besides the obvious "slow down") would be much appreciated.

    Thank you all in advance.

You might start with the following link:

Choose the 2003 RX300 repair manual (similar to the 1999). This link will present you with several downloadable How To docs. I use these for my 2001 RX 300 with no problem. The SFI file provides many helpful suggestions for diagnosing your sensor issues. The 1999 RX 300 manual may be a little too general. It does not explain how to test each sensor, for example. Good luck!

  7. hi to everyone, i want to install led light strips on my 2004 Lexus RX 330 but the thing is i can't find

any help will be greatly appreciated!

Go to following link and choose the document titled "Body Electrical". Looks like you have a RX330 (unknown year). This document is for a 2003 RX300. Might be a starting point. Good luck!

  8. I'm having a problem with my Lexus - been a great car for the past 5 years so I can't complain.

Last week, when I would turn on the car and the fan would turn on for 4 minutes and then shut off all together. Now, the fan won't turn on at all. For the air conditioning, everything else turns on but the fan.

    Any ideas?

There is a 1999 RX 300 manual at http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=52026 that could be helpful for troubleshooting. You might start by searching "blower motor control relay" (include the quotes) to get an idea where to start. Good luck!

  10. Does anyone has a picture to show the location of the ECU for 2000 RX300?

I need to remove the ECU so locksmith can program my new key, I only got valet key and it would save me $60 if I remove the ECU myself.

    Thanx.

I have a document that will point out the location of the ECU. You will need to PM your email address so I can send it--too large for this forum. However, it is not necessary to disconnect the ECU to reprogram the key. There was a post recently that detailed the procedure at this link: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=66254

I needed an extra key last year. I ordered a cut key by serial number from a Lexus dealer (they need proof of ownership). I used the attached instructions with no problem what-so-ever to program the remote key. Good luck!

  11. So I have searched and found I need to get a Denso ballast, so I will order that. However, does anyone have a write-up for how to remove the factory ballast? BTW this is for a 2006 RX330.

    Thanks,

    Shawn

I have a document that may help with your needs. PM your email address and I will send you a copy--it is too large for this forum. Good luck!

  12. Help me please. I have been searching and have found very little. I need the full wiring diagram for the factory amp in my 05 RX330. I've seen some others that are similar but I haven't seen any full descriptions. I know where the amp is and I can see the wires but I need to know which ones belong to which speakers and which are input and output. While i am at it, i want to know what the other wires are just in case i need to tap into them. I am trying to install an aftermarket amp if you haven't figured it out and I am trying to cheat the system so I don't have to run speaker wires to all the speakers. Could someone help me please or at least point me at the right direction?

    Thanks,

Can't help you with the '05 wiring diagram but I have the body electrical for the RX 300 if that will help. If you want it, PM your email address--the document is too large for this forum. Good luck!

  16. I purchased my 2001 RX 300 last year. During my search I was looking at the BMW X5, the Mercedes ML350 and the RX300. The ML350 was eliminated from my search early on because of the poor quality of the cars I viewed. They looked good but were just prematurely worn out. Maybe they are building them better now.

By the way, I paid $9,000 for my 2001 RX300. It had 115K miles but was extremely clean and in great condition.

  17. I have a 2001 RX300 with AWD. I am looking to purchase or make a linkage rod that attaches from the Rt rear wheel control arm to a rheostat type sender mounted above the control arm. Mine is broken with a pice missing. The dealer only lists the part as an assembly with the rheostat included at $303.99 part # 89407-33020. If someone can give me the length of the linkage on their car that would be great. If anyone has the info as to how the rod is ajusted, for example; with the car on level ground and the rheostat lever pointed down the rod should be adjusted to slide in between the top and bottom holes. The linkage is worth about $5.00 and I just don't need the whole assembly.

    Thanks

The adjustment you require may be found in the attached document. Good luck!

  18. I need to remove the wood trim and black plastic trim from a 2001 RX300 so I can disconnect an XM unit. Anyone have suggestions as to where the clips are located?

Post your email address and I will send a document explaining disassembly. The file is too big to post.

  19. You need to have the OCB II codes. Some AutoZones do it for free.

Cold you tell me what is OCB II codes? I really don't know about it.

    Many thanks for showing

A serviceman plugs a computer to your car and runs a diagnostic that results in codes for any issues.

Cause I am not in USA, where have no Lexus's service, so I could not know what is the error cod.

But I ask auto workshop here cleaning the Idle Control Value and throttle body, it seem error went out.

    The lights are out?

    I was wrong.

After 20 miles, the VSC light turn on again.

I had clean Oxyzen sensor and not yet fix this problem.

    Do you had new susgestion?

    Many thanks

You must get someone with an OBC II scanner to read your codes--no matter what country you are in. Without reading the codes you will just have to start changing parts--which would be very expensive. I have attached a file that will assist you in troubleshooting individual sensors. Nothing more I can do. Good luck.
