  1. There's just something about the "Big Three" in Japan. Nissan/Infiniti, Honda/Acura and Toyota/Lexus are comfortable, solid and fun cars. I drove my 94 es300 from Jan 04 until now with no problems whatsoever until the Transmission went out. I bet it could run another five years with a little work. It had 82,000 miles on it when I started! It finished out at 135,000. That's a damn solid car. I got this 2005 Acura RL for $18,500 with 43,000 miles on it. I expect that it will perform just as well as the Lexus did. And when it's day comes, you'd better believe I'll be looking at the Big Three again, starting with Lexus (Provided they put a few more inches of headroom in there).
  2. The driver's door is where wallet's go haha. I'm glad the GS worked for you. I never sat in one because I read they were even shorter. Regardless, there just has to be more headroom in these things. This trend of elongating the car and shortening the cabin is getting annoying. You almost have to get an SUV if you are tall, which is too bad, because I much prefer a sedan. I'm loving my new Acura though. I just wish it had the same name recognition as a Lexus. Definately had to pay Lexus pricing though, .
  3. Hey all, Sadly, as of Saturday I am no longer a Lexus owner. I got my 94 es300 when I was 17 and 6'1". Now I'm 22 and 6'3" and I just didn't fit anymore. After dropping a transmission, I made the move. First thing I did was go to my dealer where they had some es330s to look at. I tried sitting in one and had maybe an inch of headroom with the seat all the way down and the seat leaned back. There was just no way I could drive one comfortably. I tried to es350 and it was just as bad. I even hopped in an RX300 and it was too small. I'm sure the bigger model RX would have worked, but the only Sedan they had that worked was an LS, which is very disappointing in my book. The LS drives great, but it's not a car for a 22 year old, maybe when I'm in my 40's it'll work. So, sadly, I started looking around at other names and landed on an Acura of all things. The new car is pretty awesome- an 05 Acura RL. It's got so many bells and whistles on it and it drives great. I'm betting that some of that great Japanese engineering will be in there like it was with the Lexus. I'll miss the Lexus a lot, that es300 was amazing. I just wish that Toyota would realize that in the states not everyone is 5'10". Cheers.
  4. Hey all, My beloved 94 es300 finally died after 5 years of ownership. Transmission is shot, getting her repaired for the sole purpose of being able to drive it around while I search for my next car. Trade in value should make up for some, but not all of the repair cost. That car was awesome, but I need to move on to something that will last me a good 5 years, basically to get me through law school+. I like the look of the 02-03 models, but I have a few questions. First off, lets say I were to get one with 75,000 miles on it, what's the outlook on one of those run? I know that a lot of people have run these models from the 90's into the 200,000 range. I know a guy who ran an Avalon all the way to 400,000. Are the 02-03 models just as reliable? Also, what's the headroom like? I am 6'3" and had to open the moonroof cover to sit in my car, I understand they expanded it a little, was it significant? Thanks in advance.
  5. It does make a noise when I turn the key. It sounds like the engine is trying to start and then just dies. The dash lights up with oil, battery and engine. When it finally does start after these problems, the car shakes a lot before finally settling down about 30 seconds later.
  6. Hey all first time poster here. I'm afraid I don't know much about cars, so I can use some serious help. I've got a 1994 es300. I love my car. She's awesome, I call her Lexi and she has 132,000 miles on her. I want her to run another 132,000. For 4 years, there have been few problems. Only really had to replace the tires and work on the brakes, but since before thanksgiving, it occasionally will not start. After a visit to the mechanic, they couldn't find a problem, suggesting that the quality of the fuel (this was during the gas price hike) may be the problem. Shortly thereafter (Late December), the check engine light came on, and they had to replace an oxygen sensor and some mounting bar for the engine. They also said that the fuel filter needed replacing (at exactly 50,000 miles gotta love this car's engineering), and that may have been the problem. Well, today, it happened again. Took me 5 tries but it finally started. If it helps, It was literally 19 degrees and snowing last week, and now it is 70. Maybe some condensation in the fuel line? Hope I was descriptive enough, has anyone seen the same thing in their early model es300?
