  1. Ok, ok. I had found that there is a difference between the shift solenoid setup between fed and california Trannys. If you have one and you want to convert it to the other you can pull the pan and use the existing solenoids and harness from your blown tranny swap them into the new tranny. It is fairly easy. I just wish someone here would have told me that 2 weeks ago. Neway, I put the tranny in and this car is great. Runs good, shifts smooth, 6 cd changer, big nakawhatev sound system. I think I can get 2k for it easy B)
  2. S**T. There is apparently a transmission compatibility problem here. I returned my tranny to the junkyard today. Apparently there is a difference in the wiring harness between CA and Federal cars on the transmission. For instance, my transmission has 8 pins in the larger plug at the rear, whereas the other transmissions I have seen only have 6 pins in that connector. Does anyone know anything else about this? :chairshot:
  3. I fixed the dash lights, they work great and there are no codes to be had. I got a tranny for 300$. I'm gonna swap it this weekend. This forum is a big help.
  4. Thanks Lexstar, Currently I have the dash apart fixing the guages/lights so I can't read the codes. I only drove it around the block a couple times before I started on this, I figured this would be the easiest and most intelligent thing to do first, for all I know the car could be out of gas or overheating or something. But I will repost when I get the guage cluster soldered up and back in. I don't even know how many miles are on this car!
  5. I bought an ls400 for 500 bucks today. When it warms up, the tranny doesn't shift and then it slips and doesn't move at all. I knew I was going to have to replace the tranny when I bought it. What year transmissions will fit a 94 LS400? I'm guessing anything between 1990-1994? It's just an automatic, so there seem to be alot around. It also has 2 more problems: dash lights dont work Power steering fluid leaked out through pump But I have read the forum and they are both common problems and I feel confident I can fix them. Throw me a line guys!
