  1. I have a 92 SC400, and it looks like the 10 disk player I have is aftermarket. So it's FM Modulated. Now the radio plays fine, sounds perfect. But when I'm playing CD's through the player I hear a muffled scratching noise on certain frequencies. I've had people get in and describe it as a blown speaker or tweater, but those are good. Like I said, the radio plays fine. So I've asked many people and tried to go through all the different problems it could be. Seems I'm left with the FM modulator going out? So if this sounds right... then if I swapped out the Cassette/Radio in the front with another like it but with the CD button. Would I be able to wire the aftermarket CD changer directly into it getting rid of the FM modulated problem? Sorry if I sound a bit uneducated on the subject... I am I would really appriciate some help, thanks!
  2. So since I have had my SC my speedometer has been off. When I'm going 30 it reads 40. When I'm going 65 it reads about 78... I have the stock wheels on there and almost the same size tires so that's not it. Everything else runs great. Any idea's? I have to drive and hour north or south for someone to be able to calibrate it but it's hard to find the time.
  3. Thanks, but I've seen different brands of bushings and polyurathane kits and they all range in price a lot... so does it make a difference what I go with or are they all the same? Just price...
  4. Where can I find some that will work without paying a ton... or should I go all out?
  5. do they make a cold air intake for a 92 sc400?
  6. So if it is that third cat, am I able to just cut that one out of there and replace it with an x-pipe? I've been wanting to get rid of that one and the resinators and just run straight pipe to cut down on some of that restriction. Just don't know if I would be cutting any sensors out or what...
  7. I have the 92 SC400, and my head unit does not have the CD button on it, it looks like mine didn't come with the 10 disc in there because it is a Kenwood. But it sounds like crap. There is a scratching and fuzz with certain songs or types of music and only when my cd player is on. First I was told the tweeters were blown, so I replaced those and it did nothing. I was wondering if I were to buy one of the used head units off ebay with the CD button on it then if that would cut down on some of the interference since I run the cd player through a radio station. Also if I were to upgrade my cd changer itself, maybe the amp is going bad? Shops never give me and answer to what I can do without dumping money into it and SEEING if it works. They're also said that if I were to change something like the factory amp out, then I would have to change all the speakers and everything because it wouldn't be compatible. So I know I'm asking a lot of info and i'd really appriciate it if someone could help me out. Thanks a lot
  8. I've done a lot of freeway driving lately, and after about 30 minutes on the freeway, i have noticed heat coming up from the e-brake... after an hour or two you can feel the heat holding your hand 6 inches over the seat and the bolts underneath are almost too hot to touch by hand. Can anyone tell me what this is? If my brake is somehow wearing... I've made sure it is all the way down, the light is off and everything.
  9. I average about 20 to the gallon in my 92 400. A few more getting on the freeway every once in a while.
  10. Thanks for the info. I only really notice the interference when I'm using the CD player. That's why no one says it's my speakers that are blown. But I don't understand what it could be.
  11. I have a 92 SC400 and the speakers sound like they are blown almost, they sound a little scratchy but it's more at the beginning of songs. At first a tech said it was for sure my tweets were blown, and I replaced those and it did nothing. I was wondering if this could be the amp going out? And if replacing it what do I need to replace it with? I don't know what's in it right now, someone said there could possibly be like 5 amps in there powering the mids and highs and stuff. But I thought there was just one, so he said that would be a 5 channel amp. So if you could just explain what it looks like a bit and what I could replace it with so I don't have to pay them to dig around I would appriciate it a lot. Thanks! Bryan
  12. I am just looking for a muffle right now, I don't want to get something that is obnoxious, I would like a really deep throaty tone. I know I can do more exhaust work like headers, xpipe and all that. But right now I am just looking at not spending much and getting a couple muffles. So if you could recommend any good brands that are like what I want I would appriciate it. Thanks
  13. So if I were to cut the third cat and put an x-pipe there would I be taking out an O2 sensor? Or are they only in the first two? I don't know too much about this stuff, but trying to... so if I don't make sense everyonce in a while that is why, ha ha. I was told if there was an O2 sensor in the third cat then they send info back and forth so I would have to replace it and couldn't just cut it out... but if there wasn't then there is no problem cutting anything from the two cats back...
  14. I have a 92 SC400 with 100K on it and I've been looking around at things like exhaust's and intakes but I keep hearing different things from different poeple. I would appreciate it if someone could give me their opinion on some upgrades like these. Should I go cat-back on the exhaust? or does it make much of a different with just the muffle? I found a Borla that says "rear-end", does that mean it's just the muffler? And would something like the Injen intake system be much of an improvement? Any recommendations would help! Thanks Bryan
