My 1990 Lexus A/C is not putting out cold air. The two front fans do not turn on when the A/C is turned on. The RPMs do rise when the A/C is engaged. The compressor was replaced not too many years ago so I am looking for some basic tips to investigate prior to taking it to an expert. The alternator was just replaced, so maybe a wire was disconected? Thank you.

Thanks for the great tips. Went ahead and replaced the battery as it was at least five years old. Still the same issues with dimming headlights and Christmas tree dashlights. Tests on the alternator confirmed that it was not putting out enough current with a medium to full load. Replaced alternator and everything is fine except the Antilock light comes on frequently. New issue to resolve. Alternator probably related to a leaking power steering pump issue of many years ago. Thanks again! Bill

Hello All, My 1990 Lexus LS400 has the headlights pulsate in intensity and the RPMs for the internal fan also change. Appears the cruise control will turn off when this happens. If I put on the cruise control it only stays on briefly and seems to be disengage when the lights/fan flicker/decrease in RPMs. This may be unrelated, but many, and sometimes almost all of the indicator (idiot) lights come on for a while, then return to normal.
