  1. my cars battery has been draining if i let the car sit for a day or two and its now annoying the hell out of me. so im looking at things that might be causing this. i know the cd changer took a krap on me and it may be the problem. i get no response when trying to eject the cartridge, and i dont get any response when i press the cd button on the head unit. so im thinking the changer is running and draining the battery.

so how can i cut off power to the changer or remove it. i know removal will be a serious PITA so if i can simply cut off the changer or its power that would work.

    PLEASE AND THANKS!!!

  2. I used www.irontoad.com last Spring when I was purchasing parts for my 60K service and rear brake pads. I found them the cheapest in total for what I needed. There is also Park Place Lexus and Sewell Lexus and some others.

yea i thought about going through lexus dealership but i thought they might try to scalp me.

Tensioner...My guy forgot to change this.

ahh kk will do that too!

  3. Although there is a debate about this which you can easily find doing a search, I think you've got a non-intereference engine. I believe the interference engines started with the introduction of vvt in '98. They're expensive, so do a search to confirm. The way I look at it, if the TB breaks while I'm out in the boonies in the middle of winter with no one around, freezing temps, and fading daylight, the question of "is it interference or not" will be the least of my worries! Hey, enjoy the changeout and let us know how it goes.

well i want to make sure because if its a non interference issue then by goofing the install i should still be ok, compared to a interference engine where if a belt goes you have lifters, pistons and all sorts of stuff exploding.

ill post pics of everything as im tearing it apart and a few pics of the belts and alignment so i can get the OK before turning the car on.

  6. Not sure why it is in general it should be in audio video.

The antenna should not help any AM reception as it it part of the rear window grid lines.

In order to get the antenna to raise you need to run a wire to the amp area under the seat to activate it as the factory amp should be controlling it from what i remember.

i pulled out my factory amp and all factory stuff. i rewired my speakers too in the process. i jsut dont kno which wire is the one to give power to for the AM reception.

  7. well hows it been goin guys? havnt been on here for a while n posted in a long time. you can blame it on my new car.....Bmw 540i V8 4.4, black on beige, voice navi....and all that other luxury stuff.

-but if you guys dont mind helpin me out how do i get the antenna to work with my aftermarket stereo. moms been gettin *BLEEP*ed since she cant listen to her shows on AM. i have it plugged into the radio sourse but i think theres a wire i have to give power to, in order to get the antenna to come out. or is this not possible and i will have to get an aftermarket antenna?

-heres a few pics of my 540i for those interested, it sure doesnt ride like a lexus and i miss that. its alot more sporty though and i can go around turns pretty quick without body roll. u guys kno how it goes

    -thanx and advance guys... B)

  8. i am selling my IVA D310 so i can put the money into my new BMW 540i since i have some plans for it and dont really need this head unit since the bmw came with a navi. i have had the head unit for about 3 weeks which is what bums me out since i went through the trouble to install it and now i have to pull it right out

if anyones interested i am looking for obo $900 w/ shipping included in that and will also give you a lexus LS400 dash kit or a GS dash kit since i have both along with the bypass heres some pics of the head unit and the link to alpines site for more details

-if you are wanting to put it in a LS i can tell you exactly which wire to cut and what wire to hook up where and can show u pictures of my wiring so it can take you roughly an hour or two instead of days like it did me

  10. well i still havnt bypassed my dvd feature so im going to do it the way im suppose to untill my bypass comes in can someone help me with this in locating the wires from the car. i need a foot brake lamp, foot brake lead, parking brake lamp and parking brake lead.

    - heres a diagram to better explain this

  11. -well i bougt a alpine IVA-D310 for $1000 roughly and i wired it in last night. im probably going to make a tutorial in depth for it since i wasnt able to find one for aftermarket radio set up here.

-hardest part was bypassing the stock amp, had to rewire all the speakers from the stock amp so there was no need to remove my doar panels. the constant and +12 were easier to find then i thought and were right next to each other so i only cut 2 wires comeing from my car.

-everything works as it should but i realized my antenna doesnt come out no more is there anyway to get around this or am i screwed and will need an aftermarket antenna. surprisingly though the head unit still gets pretty good reception.

-and let me tell you for those of you who think this thing is overpriced ITS NOT it does everything you can think of possible in a car its practically a PC only thing missing is internet which im sure alpine will probably find a way to get soon

    -will post pics later
