  1. What the heck? He says he only works an hour a day. :D ← I understand why the rule is in place but I just thought that regardless of the post number the time registered would override it. :)
  2. No offense to the admins but that is a ridiculous rule. I have been registered almost a year and came here for info on purchasing my Lexus. Just because I only made 20 posts and prefer to read more than to write does not mean I shouldn't be able to offer my Lexus for sale to other members. In a sense it is also depriving a potential buyer from a seeing a great car for sale! Oh well, there's always eBay! :(
  3. I went to the classifieds section and when I try posting my car for sale it tells me I am unauthorized to start a new topic on that board. What am I doing wrong? :(
  4. Thanks for the comments guys. We own a dealership in NY but since it is still used as my personal car I cannot sell it on the lot since it would require certain stickers in the window and have to be registered in our books. I will make it a dealer sale accompanied by a warranty though for the customers benefits. I guess $26K or so complete would be a fair price for all parties. Thanks again! :)
  5. Hey guys, Been away for a while. Toying with selling our RX since the wife wants an S500 now. I was wondering what is a good asking price for it? It's a 2001 RX300 AWD with all the options less NAV. I just hit 52,000 miles on it and had a service done a week ago. I own a detail shop here in NY so the car is clayed and waxed every 4 weeks and polished in between every six months. I also have the interior carpeting shampooed every 8 weeks and the leather conditioned every 6 months. The car is as clean and shiny as can be with no imperfections cosmetically or mechanically. I have all the keys and books and xenon lights, heated seats, etc. So, what's a fair selling price? Thanks in advance! :) Pics here: http://hobbystage.net/porsche/stryke/
  6. I ordered the class II from the same place and paid $127 for the hitch and $16 for the wire harness. Got free shipping as well and had one of my employees install it at my shop so installation was free. Now I'm ready to take my jet ski out for the season! :)
  7. I am in the HID business and can tell you that all cars in the US equipped with factory HID have either the Philips 4100K or OSRAM 4300K bulbs. Lexus uses the Philips I believe. Depending on your friends vehicle, she will not have the same look as you. The projector lens you have installed in the headlamp is responsible for bending the light and creating the "color effect" that you often see in BMW and Audi. Much like a diamond's fire giving off different colors, when you bend white light you break it up into the colors of the prism. Due to the blue's and purple's hitting your eye first you think that the light is that color. It's not, it is in fact white! Hope that helps! :)
  8. While Lexus makes some of the softest rides available and nice interiors with great mechanical reliability, they are slow! :)
  9. I need a tow hitch on my car to tow my jet ski. The season starts in a few weeks. I had a U-Haul on my Jeep before I sold it last summer. I don't know if to go U-Haul again since I heard that my car may be prewired for the hitch. Any info would be greatly appreciated. :)
  10. Anyone install an aftermarket NAV in an RX300? I have a 2001 and would like to get one but can't see where a good place to install it would be. Would love to hear some feedback. :)
  11. Hey buddy, how you doing? I just got my oil changed with regular oil. Seems like the oil was clean but the service records book was not updated for 15K miles. :)
  12. Does it take regular oil or synthetic?
  13. Is there a way to check for the presence of this as well as clean it? Also, how often should oil changes be done in this car. My service records in the book indicate the last one was about 15K miles ago although the oil looks fine.
  14. I bought a 2001 RX300 with a build date of 10/00. It currently has 44K miles and in the book it shows as the last performed service at 30K miles. What is this sludge buildup you guys are talking about? I plan on having the service done next week at my local repair shop (owned by a High School friend). Thanks in advance! :)
  15. I'll take it in for that. Also, is scheduled service included with the warranty period or do we pay the dealer for it? I know BMW includes services under warranty. Thanks! :)
  16. skperformance, Thank you for the response. While I know that all cars have a slight fuel pump noise, this seemed a little excessive to me especially coming from a "quiet running car." It is loud enough that when I stood in front of the car and someone started it I ran to the back to see if there was air leaking out of somewhere. Very noticeable. :( I will check with my local dealer on the rotors. :) Thanks again! Gil
  17. Guys, I just picked up a 2001 RX300 yesterday. When the car is running at idle and I stand next to it I hear like a hissing sound from the rear. It almost sound like what you would hear if you pulled a nail out of the tire. I believe it is coming from the fuel pump as I hear the fuel pump in the same spot with the same sound when the switch it turned on without starting the car and then it stops. When the engine is running it stays the whole time. My question is if this sound is normal, is it the fuel pump and do other RX300's have it also? Is it a fuel pump problem and if so will the Lexus dealer service it under warranty? Also, I know brakes are typically maintenance and not covered by warranty, but at high speeds the steering wheel vibrates when I hit the brakes. I suspect an obvious warped rotor issue. How is this addressed by factory warranty if at all? Thanks in advance! Gil P.S. Glad to be back on board with another Lexus. :)
