  1. Has anyone recently replaced the shocks on their '05 SC430? I have a few questions for anyone in-the-know: > Is there a direct-fit aftermarket replacement for the rear shocks on an '05 SC430? > Is there an aftermarket shock maker that makes both front and rear shocks for an '05 SC430? > When replacing the shocks on an '05, is there any additional hardware/parts needed to do the job?
  2. We won't go into how poorly designed SC430 cupholders are. That whole mechanism is made of plastic so i't possible something broke. BUT maybe not. Is it possible a drink spilled and some skicky residue from that is gumming-up the mechanism? You might want to try cleaning it with a little spray cleaner like Windex or 409. If you're sure there hasn't been a spill, perhaps a little silicon spray lubricant might work. Then there's always console disassembly...
  3. If you check EBay I think you'll find you can buy the stock alloy wheel and hub cap for $100-$200 each in average condition, more if they are pristine of never used. Be sure to ask for pix of the backs of the wheels so you can inspect for dips from potholes! Also, you may find a few vendors that will do an exchange of your alloy wheels for chromes ones. I did this a few years ago with a company called LA Wheels (or something) and it worked great: they sent me the 4 chromies in reusable cartons, I had them mounted and then sent the alloys back to them, total cost was about $900. Still pleased.
  4. The grey carpet-like substance in my SC430 is looking a little dingy and sad. Has anyone ever tried dying the carpet balck? NOT the grey plastic trim, just the "carpet" in the trunk.
  5. My '05 SC430 is about due for new shocks--starting to get a little bottom-out in front on speed bumps at 1 mph. What are your recommendations for a replacement shock that might tweak the handling a bit without making the ride too much stiffer? Also, would you replace the coil-over springs at the same time, and if so with what? Thanks...
  6. Hey ya'll! I guess my backup lights have been out for a while. The bulbs are good. I studied the fuse chart in the back of the OM, and looked at the listings on the insides of the fuse boxes; I even looked in my service manual pair, and I can't determine which fuse or fuse block controls those lights. Can someone give me a clue? Is it controlled by the tranny? >>PS:I've been using the Snow setting a little lately, and it's very helpful!! Thanks, GKV gkayvee@hotmail.com
  7. I'm finally going to update the NAV in my '05 SC430, from version 3.Duh up to 8.1. I'm too cheap to spend $200 at the dealer for 9.1, so I'm on the lookout for a GEN 4 Ver8.1 online. Anyway it appears that the U-code on the disk identifies which GEN the disk is, yes? Can someone take a minute and explain the Version/GEN Code mystery to me? If this has been alrready been discussed to death, a link, please? U23 = GEN4/Ver8.1? Thanks...
  8. Has anyone seen a kit to replace the rear seat in an SC430 which makes it into a cargo area?
