  1. I am a Lexus customer of over 2 years. My car has 24,000 miles on it, and I have to say I am extremely disappointed that I have scratches that show through to the white, on various spots on the car liek the hood, roof, and trunk. My car is black, and I barely drive it. I shouldn't be seeing every single scratch and ding. Furthermore, I have been rading on these forums, that opther people besides myself are experiencing paint chipping, scratches, on the car, rins, etc. Should this be acceptable to this level on a Luxury class car? My fiance drives a hyundai and this doesn't happen on his. If you compare his driving to mine, he drives on the highway more than I do, so he has even more exposure to road wear. His car doesn't look like mine, and his is black also, nor did this happen on his black pontiac. The standard as from the body shops I have taken my car to, is that paint be applied first, and that a clear coat be applied as a seperate application. I am not sure that my car has clear coat, if it did, I would have scratches, chips, and spots of something that is eating all the way through on certain areas of my car. It wouldn't strip all the paint off and show white underneath. I've never seen this happen on any other car I've owned. I had more luck with used cars I've owned. I am also experiencing a lot of bubbling, and chipping on the interier chrome around my shifter. Also the chrome around the hood on the exterior of my car is chipping and bubbling. The weather stripping on both sides of the car, is wearing away, and cracking. I have had the molding on my door replaced already once. The chrome around the shifter had been replaced, but I have to back to get it replaced around the knob now, and have the front looked at. This is unacceptable for a luxury class car. If anyone else is experiencing problems like this on your vehicle please post a reply.
  2. I had a similar problem with one of my wheel's on one of the spokes - the clear coat was just gone like a sheet of it came off some how and there was a jagged edge a the points where it came off. I went to the dealer and they said that they would refinish the wheel. I talked to my detailer and he said there was no way that it came off from his cleaning and that for a brand new car I should go back and say I wanted a new wheel. I politely did just that and Lexus dealer gave me a new rim. No problems with any other of the wheels since - and that was 30,000 miles ago and countless both touchless car washes and details later - obviously the clear coat on that one wheel was a manufacturing problem. I have to say that my dealer had on many occasions surprised me thought - like replacing a rubber floor mat that developed a hole in it for free, and replacing not only the front brake pads for squeaking (TSB) but the rotors as well. for free and that was at 24,000 miles! There seems to be alot of issues concerning clear coat on paint and on rims. I am gathering as much info as possible and plan to escalate this issue to Lexus. My car is black and I have 24,000 miles on it, and have owned it for less than 3 years. I don't understand why it looks so bad in spots. There are more chips, and more dings, scratches, and spots on the hood, roof, trunk, etc. on the car than I can believe. If anyone would like to IM me on this please do so. I just paid a lot of money for this car, and this has never happened that much on other cars that I have owned. LEXUS should be held accountable for this. This isn't only happening to me this is happening to a lot of people according to the complaints on this forum. I am not intending to waste my money on a manufacturers defect. My fiance drives a black hyundai, and had a pontiac that was black, and his didn't look like mine, and he drove it much more than me so it had more exposure to road wear. This shouldn't be the case on a $40,000 vehicle.
  3. Go to www.5starshime.com They have a great kit for use with the manufacturers touch up paint. I am experiencing the worst paint job ever on my lexus IS250. It's black and I've only had it not even three years. I don't know about you, but I am being more and more persistent on getting answers as to why my paint is worse on this car, than on any other car I've owned. For the price, I think I deserve a car that is goingto hold up under road condidtions, and considering the fact that I barely drive it, and have only 24,000 miles on it, this shouldn't be happening. I have scratches all over the hood, showing white underneath, and spots that were showing in certain areas all over my car that looks like something was eating through the paint. If there was clearcoat on this, nothing would get through to the paint. I am still investigating this and plan to go to Lexus on this issue. I am not wasting my $40,000 to have my car look terrible. What is worse, my fiance drives a hyndai elantra and his is black, he drives it more than me and nothing is on his car.
