  1. i'm trying hard guys to get my buddy's digi camera from him but he works weird hours. hopefully soon i will have pics of my headunit for you guys . also am looking into aftermarket wheels. has anyone delat with WheelsNext.com??? they seem pretty reasonable. what do you think?

    Go to Super Buy Tires.com

They are the cheapest and they have a huge selection.

If you have any concerns about what will fit, they can also help you out with that.

  2. I have a 94, I fried my stock HU and I might have fried the stock amp but bought another off ebay just in case.  I recently bought a JVC 200 watt Cd/mp3 player and I have an amp screwed to a box with two 10 inch subs.  What would be the best way to install all of that without costing me alot of money?...i still have the power, ground and rca cables for the subs.  PLEASE HELP!

Don't go to Circuit City, Best Buy, or any other major retalier. Find a locally owned car stereo shop and take your equipment and wires with you. Ask them how much it would cost to install your CD player, and run the wires for your amp. Since you have the amp kit already that saves you $40 immidiately. I had my amp kit installed for $70, yours should be around $40 since you have the wires already. The CD player will run about $40 to $50 to install. If you have any reservations about running the wires yourself..DON"T do it. You will spend even more money fixing your fried wires and maybe your electrical system in the car. Let a Pro do it if you not an experienced "Do it Yourself" person.

  3. this past weekend i installed a Kenwood KDC-X579 headunit in my car 200watts 50X4, 230$ unit but the sales guy sold it to me for 220$ Let me tell you this thing does just about everything except talk to you. The headunit itself is very nice but I take great pleasure in saying that i did not spend a DIME taking it to a garage to have it professionally installed. I did it all myself. Installing a headunit in a Honda or VW is not too difficult but i think we all know how near impossible it is to find Dash kits for our es300 mor specifically the 97 model. Anyway I fabricated a dash kit myself. basically I took the old stock unit out, disassembled the radio and removed the stock amp. I gutted the Old headunit so i could use the same face plate and the side metal clips that hold the face plate to it. now a normal Dinn size radio no where near matches any holes or what not to the stock face plate so what i did I bought a very THIN piece of plexi glass glued the piece very securely to the front of the stock faceplate and put my Dremel with cutting disc to work. slowly but surely i carefully trimmed a new hole for the new headunit to fit with a bit of recess in the dash. "but plexi-glass is clear" you say? I bought a can of 10$ spray paint that actually molecularly bonds to hard plastic. after 15 coats of black flat paint and drilling a hole for my amp switch. so that at anytime i can turn off the sub woofers with the click of a switch. It was ready to be installed. Everythings done and it looks very close to professional and it sounds great. I am waiting on a buddy of my to let me use his digi camera. and i hope to get some pics up so u all can see in the next few days. Oh and a word of advice to anyone looking in the market for an aftermarket head unit get one that can also play MP3's i have 2 full 700mb discs one has 151 songs and the other 117 songs. Who needs a cd changer with that amount of songs on 1 disc. PEACE ALL. :D

U DA MAN. I have a 1997 ES 300 and I have always had after market head units to run my subwoofers in previous cars. In this car, I had to tap into the factory amp/subwoofer in the read deck and run RCA cables off of it. As you know, the sound is not near as clear, and bass does not hit as hard or clean. I have seen some custom installs, but I like to keep a factory look. I also have a toggle switch hidden under the dash to turn off the subs when I don't want the extra bass.

You might make me get the dremmel tool out and start cutting. Were there any wiring harness compatibility issues when you hooked up the new cd player?

You can email at lacey_dan@hotmail.com if you'd like to see pictures of my install.

  4. as was mentioned in the other thread that you posted this in,

this seems more engine related than tranny related.

maybe a dirty throttle body or a sticky trottle position sensor.

    steviej

please, in the future, don't double post as it gets very confusing.

Sorry. I cannot figure out how to get to my current posts and navigate the forum yet.

  5. What does everyone think about adding an SUB and AMP(sub) to the factory is300 system? I'll prolly run signal through the high end of my rear speaker. and have the sub in a box right at the opening of the rear arm rest thing. Is there a way to cut out low freq to my factory mids and highs, and just have my sub running the bass?

    thanks for the help

I have a 1997 ES300, and I tapped into the factory subwoofer on the rear deck. I could not find a dash insert to allow for an after market CD player, so that was my only option. The bass hits hard, but not as hard if I had an after market CD player.

  6. Alan, my thoughts exactly.

danp007's problems sounds more like a dirty throttle body or a throttle position sensor.

    steviej

It has 80k miles on it. I have not changed the spark plugs since I bought it (74k miles). The engine runs smooth and is very responsive, it is when I let off the gas at slow speeds when the jerking occurs.

Could the throttle body being dirty cause this? It acts like it won't downshift when it needs to at slow speeds.

  7. I have a 1997 ES 300, and when I am going 40-45 and let off, I get this jerking around from the transmition. This mainly occurs in traffic when I cannot keep my foot on the gas. As soon as I accelerate it goes away, but everytime I let off going slow, it is jerking me back and forth like it cannot decide to downshift. Do any of you know a fix for this? Any suggestions are much appreciated!

  8. The 5 speed transmission on my new '03 seems a little strange. If I drive about 35mph and then slow down to about 5mph and than try to accelerate there is a hesitation. It's as if the transmission can not decide on what gear to go into. When it finally does there's a slight lurch forward. Can this be adjusted?

    Alan

I have a 1997 es300 and mine jerks around when I am going 40-45 and then let off the gas. when I try to accelerate again I get the same jerking, unless I really punch it. This mainly occurs in traffic when you cannot consistantly accelerate. Do any of you know of a fix on the 1997 ES 300 for this problem. Any comments are appreciated!
