  1. I bought the car from Texas Direct Auto in Sugarland (texasdirectauto.com). They were fantastic and I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone. They list on e-bay, but do most of their business over the phone. Regarding the in-dash CD player, I think Lexus considers the glove box part of the dash and although I have a CD button on the head unit, no changer in the glove box. Still weird to me that the previous owner seems to have paid for it, but it was never installed.
  2. I just wanted to say how fantastic I think this forum is - I've read just about every post here and in detailing and I've received such informative insight into my new ES300. I picked it up Saturday and drove the 3 hours home in utter bliss. She's such a beauty and rides like a cloud. I've attached a picture below. The only odd thing about the car is the missing CD changer in the glovebox. The original sticker from the window was in the owner's manual and lists the car as having the Value Package, and lists the in-dash CD player. But there is no sign the CD changer has ever been installed in the vehicle. Weird... Again, thanks - and hopefully I won't need any serious advice in the near future!
  3. Forgot to mention that I also need this to detail the car I'm selling, since I have the new one. Thanks!
  4. Well, I started reading all these great posts 'cause I figured that to do it yourself is the only way to go - BUT, I started my shopping list on premiumautocare.com and it just started climbing sky high. In the interest of time and $, can anyone recommend a good detailer in Austin, TX? Thanks, guys! I promise next time, I'll do it myself (with your guidance, of course)! BTW, I've noticed lots of posts for help with the darker colored cars, but I have a white ES300 - any tips for white? And the 100+ degree heat that is soon to arrive - Spring lasts approximately 4 days here in Texas!
  5. Sorry, forgot a bit of data: 1 owner trade-in, buying it from a wholesaler (Texas Direct Auto) for $16K. Thanks again for any pointers!
  6. I just purchased a '00 ES300 yesterday over the phone (saw pics and did CarFax before laying down the deposit). I'm going to test drive it Saturday and before handing over the cashier's check, was wondering if you nice folks had any advice for things I should look out for? Specs: '00 ES300 - not the platinum edition. 56K miles, unknown service record, but recent oil change and state inspection (TX). I've been reading the posts for the past two months, and still haven't found the answer to this one, but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place: ?The stereo is factory, with a CD button, but no changer in the glove box. Is it better to take out the factory unit and replace the whole thing with a new system, or just try to find an add-on CD changer and install? Thanks for all your advice so far (gonna change out the headlights to Sylvannia as soon as I get back to town). M.
