I've got a '92 SC300 (2JZGE), that I just had to replace the Water Pump and Alternator on. I was able to tear-down the front and replace the Water Pump without too much trouble due to the really great right-ups on this site,(except for some aggravation with getting the nut off for the Harmonic Balancer. Though, when I finally followed the advise to use the Starter to get it off, it really did the trick and saved the day).
It has been over a week since I did the Water Pump, and I was going to do the Alternator at the same time I first finished it, but I was shipped the wrong one and had to send it back. Now, I finally have the correct Alternator, but the problem is that I don't know where the Wire with the Bracket attaches to, and all the instructions I have read said that their should be an Alternator Wire to attach to the top terminal, (which I can't even find this wire). The only thing I have connected right now is the obvious, which is the round connector plugged into the back of the Alternator. This can't be it though, because if I start the car and then pull the Battery cable, the car dies.
Could someone give me some insight to what I am missing, or even better yet, do that AND post a picture or two of their 2JZGE Motor and Alternator with the correct hook-ups. This is really frustrating me because it's only an Alternator. It should have been a 10-20 minute job, and has now gone on for days.
Thanks. :D
