  1. If you do get pinging with 8x octane just use 91, 92, 93 with the advanced timing and youll be fine with the 7 deg advance.

Hook the timing light pickup to the #1 plug wire, jump the e1 and e01 diag ports, ground and power the timing light. Start up your car and let it idle to normal operating temp (probably around 700rpm for yours).

Loosen the bolt holding the distributor tight (there may be a second bolt as well) and turn it towards the right to advance the timing. Youll hear the motor rev faster and slower by turning it to the left and right. Youll find the timing marks pointing to the acessory belts on the lower left side of the engine. They range from -5 to 15 usually. You would want yours to say 7. When you have the timing set properly, tighten the distributor bolt and un hook everything you had connected.

If the MAF cog part seems difficult to you, do not touch it.

  2. Your egr shouldnt cause the car to stall like that. When it's off or leaking, it sounds like you have an exhaust leak but does cause the car to stall. Check the vacuum lines going to the egr for splits and cracks. If your egr system on the front of the intake manifold is messed up, i have a spare one from a 92 that works, so let me know if you need it.

  3. looks *BLEEP*ing awesome, wanna trade engines? Clean it up a bit and make it look pretty... what would look sweet is if you chrome dipped the valve cover and throttle body...... mmm

Yes, the motor could def be much "prettier." I still need to have those 2 pipes in front that have green spots on them ceramic coated with a nice chrome look. Next photo I post will look much different, as i need to heat wrap the majority of the electronics in the bay.

  4. it looks very good I must say but if it were real you wound not get that much power.  you must have the turbo as close as possible to the exhaust ports.  down stream like that and you lose most of the exhaust gas velocity and u get nothing but turbo lag and not much power.

Down stream? The pipe going down is my down pipe. That turbo is plenty close to the exhaust outlets and yes it is real. Sorry, you havent messed with turbo cars much have you? Lag doesnt make you lose power, it will just delay it for a few rpms.

  5. mcelligott that is really cool!

Have you done dyno runs yet? If yes what's your hp increase?

Are you doing air/fuel or ignition retuning?

Its not quite done yet. I still nee to install my FMU BPV and oil lines. I'm retarding the timing to -3 and using an s-afc with a wideband dyno to tune when it's finished.

  6. are you sure it's the head gasket? and not the valve cover gasket?

i haven't owned a single japanese car that had a bad-head gasket. but every single one of them had a bad valve cover gasket.

Mine is leaking oil now and i was told that it was the valve cover gasket (which i have to have fixed). The head gasket is worse then the valve cover gasket correct?

Valve cover gasket = super cheap

ES300 Head Gaskets = super expensive compared to toher vehicle's head gasket pries

  7. Manual owner checking in here.

SkPerformance, have you ever driven an ES manual? You seem to be making some assumptions that are false, making you look like you dont know what you are talking about. The seats are fine with support, the shifting is effortless and I am on original motor mounts as well after 171k of hard driving.
