Please check the transmission. Start the engine cold and see if it shifts through the gears smoothly. The timing belt may need to be changed. See if the owner has a service ticket the timing belt change.

What signs did you have before the failure? I am having problems with my 2000 RX300 shifting from 2nd to 3rd. My lexus has 101K and I am taking a trip this summer.
