  1. We have a subscription to Sirius. Dealer wants $500 to install system and have it integrated with our radio and nav screen system. Is $500 too much. Would it be ok to find an outside audio tech to do the job or does it require Lexus technicians? Your input will be appreciated.

After finding out the cost of having a kit installed, I ordered the an XM kit from eBay and installed it myself using the instruction manual provided online. It wasn't a cake walk, but it wasn't bad....just took a while to do. But the system works great & the effort was well worth not having to pay that kind of money. (I also have a Nav sys.).

  2. Have you tried Edmunds.com? They give the average price (with options) for vehicles in your area.

    Hi all,

After lurking for a while, Im taking a plunge and posting. I decided on buying a new RX350FWD (2009) and I suck at haggling. I was hoping someone could tell me what a good price would be and what they paid for their 09 RX350's. :D

I recently graduated and wanna save just about as much as i can ! Any information would be welcome.

Thanks in advance to everyone, thank you for looking

    Regards

  3. I just spliced the wires & crimped them together, which worked. Thanks!

Get another set of connectors and crimp them on.

Yeh, fabbing wiring harnesses for most apps is fairly simple. I have to do the same thing for my fog light since I hit a tree in the road awhile back and it destroyed my bumper, fender well, foglight wiring. Anyway, I plan to just use 2 negative blade terminals - the kind you use for speaker wiring - and just slide the blades on the light bulb to get a good connection. Pretty simple this way, and it should work for you, too ;) good luck

  4. Hmm, again, not an easy diagnostic over the web. "sputtering" is a pretty generic term, and can be caused by alot of different issues ranging from a bad spark plug, bad coil, bad fuel injector seal, air blockage, water in the fuel tank or bad gas, the list could on. I would take it in and have it profesionally diagnosed by mechanic. An ODB II scanner with datalogging and freeze frame can capture the event as it's happening, and they should be able to track the issue down quickly.

Thanks. I've been leaning in that direction, but wanted to see if someone else may have had this experience as well & what the turn out was.

UPDATE: I held out a couple weeks and the check engine light came on; got it looked at & realized that it was a misfire on the #5 cylinder. I had gotten a tune up not too long ago, so I'm pretty sure now that it is the coil for that cylinder. There is a chance that the wire could be bad, but I'm gonna' take a chance on replacing the coil first.

CONCLUSION: Turned out that I had to replace a coil AND the spark plug wire. Not sure if the spark plug was the origin of the problem or if it was the coil, but I replaced the platinum spark plugs with iridium plugs (on top of the wire & coil) and it rides like it is new again!

  6. I recently purchased a fog light on eBay for my IS300. I should stop there, but I'll continue for the sake of humoring you. The 2 ends of the wiring connectors do not match up. Does Lexus use more than one type of wiring harness/connector or did I get one from a non-US make? Is there an adapter or will cutting the wires and connecting them work?

  7. I have just begun experiencing a mild sputtering when I accelerate in 2nd and 3rd gear. I cleaned the MAF, but it didn't seem to help. I have been thinking maybe a problem with the fuel filter or fuel pump. (There are no check engine lights.) Does anyone know & if so, is it an easy fix? Appreciate any help.
