  1. Hello All.

I know the size that's called for in the Pure One filter is the pl20145,but it seems so small? Read some where the Pl 20195 will work too and is larger which I seem to believe is better... Anyone fitted the the larger one ? Any comments? Thanx ;)

    HI there,

I have been using the NAPA 1515 which is considerably larger than the factory filter, same flow rate confirmed by NAPA tech person behind the counter. I use royal purple and the NAPA gold 1515.

You may want to do your own research on this to see if this set up will work for you!

    Cheers B)

  3. I always name mine sled. The Jag was named Dover cuz it was white tudor same color as the cliffs/sands of Dover, the Z car was Azure as in the beautiful blue seas color it was, I had a Chevelle named Chefe cuz it had the Boss v-8 and finally the Lexus is Bento cuz I speak some Portugues and this car drives like the wind and wind down in Rio was vento and a oriential trying to say vento would come up with "bento" hope that makes sense and doesn't offend anyone

  4. Hea Sak,

Don't be dissing us pre 2001's just cuz we can't upgrade our GPS's. I'm thinking we'll smoke you down and off the line :D

yeah u might but then you'll just get lost as you still back in 2004 and by the time u find it i'll have been there for hours  . i still dont understand why they would do that kurtk. seems like them woulda built something to replace it........n actually they should be very close u def wont smoke us. think our torque will help us here even with you'lls little e-shift and our slow shifting tranny. havent seen u active on the "other" site u still on?

Yeah I go spurts of activity :P Probably depends on the nightly intake

  5. I just got a full inspection yesterday at Lexus and here are the problems they found, I'm not sure if everything they said is actually bad since I know dealership service always tries to rip us off...

    1. fluid changes with timing belt and waterpump $2400

    2. rear main seal is leaking $2100 (they said it's very minor and told me to pay attention to the leakage, could run for about 10k-15k miles.

    3. right front outer tie rod ends need replaced $235

    4. four wheel alignment $129 (after #3, they have to do it they said)

    5. fog light connector $65

Anyone knows where can I get cheaper parts and if it's recommended to get these parts fixed by my local mechanic (he has worked on vdub all his life and specialized in german cars like audi/bmw, i got my bank1O2 sensor fixed there)

    Please help! thanks!

I would love to help you getting these parts for a less since I work for dealership here in SoCal. But since you are in

another parts of the land. Why don't you let one of the repair shop try to get it at their shop discount maybe that will

help you a little at least. I know the dealership charges you an arms and legs especially labors. Best way is to find

one of the repairs shop that you know to see if they could get it for you.

    Just an advice.....

    Joel

    Hey Joel,

    Where are you at?

  6. Howdy Gang!

Took my 1999 GS 400 with 86,000 miles into the Toyota Dealer. Orginally was just going to get a tune up after reading countless threads about the pros and cons of doing a "major maintence". Change out the water pump with the timing belt?..no they last a long time ..why replace a good part...etc. Opted to get the timing belt and water pump done and requested the serpentine belt as well. Orginal estimate for t belt, water pump, and tune up was $1,090. Not too bad I thought. Got a call a few hours later with the news the water pump was leaking(they took pictures on a cell phone) so it was a good call to have included that. Also said I had heavy build up of carbon and crap in the fuel injector system and throttle something or other ($65) to clean that up. They said tensioner belt and idler pulleys not noisey but my call as to whether to change them out too( sure why not what's another 2-300$) as long as they have my baby torn apart. Asked about cam seals and was advised those don't often leak and if a seals sealing ..leave well enough alone ( so I did). Final bill $1619. All OEM parts new plugs yada, yada. Service manager also advised against Toyota Red antifreeze as it has salt in it that will actually hasten leaks even though I read threads by people praising it's vitures as a great lubricator and protectant. So that's my story. Glad I didn't wait another year or 10,000 miles even though the car was running perfectly. I had bought it last year and had only sckety service records on it. So I figure ( hope!) i'm good for another 10 yrs of happy trouble free hauling !Removed!! B)

This ought to make all the weekend mechanics out there very happy. Just did everything mentioned here for $450 in parts (including new thermostat, lower hose, air filter), OEM parts from Irontoad. A weekend mechanic could make between $100 and $200/hr doing this job! Sure beats the minimum wage I normally make working on cars. I guess it helps to be working on a Lex though.

Yeah but I've got clean finger nails and someone to back too if something :D f's up. I went to a newer Toyota place in Santee by Fanita and Mission Gorge. Good guys
