  1. We have no snow here but what we do have is a lot of rough bad roads, and this RX300 is prone to a lotta tire/road noise.

What tire provides a cushy and quieter ride?

My default would be to go to Sams and say "put on the top-end Michelin"......

I have a 2004 RX330 and did a lot of research and found a lot of info at tirerack.com

After much thought, I purchased the Bridgestone Dueler HL and have been very pleased

with them and would highly recommend them. I did get a great deal right from

the Firestone/Bridgestone dealer - so take a look at them there and see what

    they have to offer.

  2. I agree - this vehicle is about as noisy as my toyota corolla.... sorta numbing to the ears.

But the steps you're talking about price out at over $2K also. at least thats what Cartoyz here tells me, in fact they don't really want the job.... too time-consuming.

Have you actually had this work done, and if so, what were the costs, and the results?

    thx

    $2500.00...??

To justify that you must spent one helluva lot of time listening to that system just setting inside your RX closed up inside the garage with the engine off.

Otherwise the typical 70Db road noise, "white" noise, "over-shadows" the lower level "sounds" so much that you must have the volume up in the painful to the ears range for the "high" sequences.

The best investment to improve the automotive audio "listening" experience is via more sound proofing, noise reduction. Undercoating the wheelwell liners, nice quiet higher profile 16-17" summer tires, fiberglass insulation in the doors, coat of silicone lub on the rubber window seals, etc, and maybe even an "anti-noise, noise canceling, module under the driver's seat.

And it wouldn't hurt to add some DSP, Digital Signal Processing, to automatically bring the "low" musical sequences up to, or even above, the level of the cabin ambient NOISE.

Having done all of that you'd likely be pleasantly surprised at just how well the factory system sounds.

  3. Looks like no posts for awhile.... is that a Positive sign?

I am picking up today my 2001 RX300 w/75K miles.

Before its delivered the dealr is pulling heads and snooping around. The car has a good maintenance history all at Lexus dealers, so we can see what has been done.

I'm hoping to dodge some of these issues by being proactive on Brake pad replacements and tranny maintenance, frequent oil changes.

I only need to get about 2 years outta this car, then I move on. Around here, justified or not, they hold value well. Not many things do.

  4. I installed a Colgan bra last year on my '02 RX300. The hood cover flaps. (the mfg claimed I did not stretch it tight enough on initial installation) I do like the bumper protection.

I am considering the LUND or AVS acrylic hood deflector. Any experience with these? I have some concern for using double-sided tape on the hood paint to install this item. However, I have found past experience with similar deflectors on mini vans to be very effective.

First post noob here. just picking up 01 RX300 and same issue on my mind. I want to cover the thing ASAP

Which mftrs/models best, and could someone kindly post link if you have.
