  1. i've been away for a while, but this monkey is back...got a question on the Maint Reqd light....last time i changed my oil, i reset the light and reset the B tripmeter...the light came on yesterday indicating it's time to change the oil, but it's only been 3180 miles by count of the tripmeter....wtf is up with that? thought it was set for 5k miles?!?

  2. Hey guys, did a search but couldn't find anything. My girl has a 2001 IS300 and her rear turn signal is out. looks like I just gotta remove the pins holding the liner in place to get access to the housing. Is this so?

    Thanks.

you don't need to remove the liner....there are 2 screws on the seam that hold the housing in place...pop the trunk and look to the side where the taillight is, remove the plastic covers and screws, and the taillight should come out

  3. What color bulbs did you use. White or blue?

white... the "don't use in the heated housing blah blah blah" is a total CYA move...standard fare for after-market parts...like the "for off-road use only" statements....i would love see the donkey that puts a set of headers on his/her IS and takes it off-road....

  4. hi to everyone.ime after a little info.am looking to purchase some headers and downpipe for my IS200 and have come across LEXTASY.COM and TUNINPROS on ebay.has anyone used these suppliers before.are they good quality pasts ?. are there any other suppliers out there that would ship to the uk ? your replies would be greatly recieved as these parts in the uk are very overpriced.thanks to tou all.will try to add a pi of my car.

this should give you an idea about your question on lextasy.com...i can't speak to the other...my new header from mazzuri is sitting in my garage waiting for my attention, but b/c of family crap i haven't been around to put it on yet.....

  5. thanks, that helped. i took out the bulbs and they are not burned out... when do these damn lights come on?? i know they are parking lights but i mean WTF!!!! ive never seen them on. how can i test them? or see them in action>>???

    ANYONE????? :(

move the lights switch (on the turn signal arm) to the off position, the first setting/click up is the parking lights...they should come on then, but with standard bulbs you will have to bend over to see them, they are not bright at all....if they are not on then replace the bulbs and work from there.....

this is all in your owner's manual

  6. i think my little lights in the headlight are burned out. how can i replace them?

pop the hood and you can see the connection on the back of the headlight....rotate the plug counter-clockwise (i think, hey, i hava a 50/50 shot here) and it will pull out...replace bulb and stick it back in and you are done.....

check lexus buld reference guide for the correct bulb.....you are looking for the parking light 168

ps - these are the parking lights, so check to make sure they are really burned out before replacing (since you said "i think" they are burned out)

pss - i stole the link from here

  7. I have a few scratches in the center steering wheel piece (the horn/airbag) and was curious if anyone knows of a cover for this item on the aftermarket?

    Thanks in advance!

no idea...but was thinking that the airbag is back in there, you really want to cover that up???

but if you wanted to avoid all this, just get one of these, then you'll be focused on the wheel and won't even notice the scratches.....no need to thank me, i'm here to help ;)

  8. while 17's year old's generally are bad and reckless driver's, I for one like speed but know the limit, I just want to get to that limit faster. I'm not going to go 200 over the edge of a airstrip like that rtard did.

classic statement that if i'm not mistaken was the same song sung by that 18 year old kid.....responsible, competent for his age, knew the risks, had it under control....right up to the point where he killed all his friends....problem is that you are too young to know what you don't know....i'm not your father, and i don't know you, so you very well could be the exception and not the norm, however you're attitude that you know where the edge is and you can tip-toe it simply puts a spot light on the fact you don't know jack.....

a bunch of people with you're same attitude die skydiving every year saying the exact same thing...i know i don't have the experience level to fly high performance parachutes, but i really know what i am doing, i know where the limit is, i am the exception and different then everyone else, blah blah blah.... most of them end up here....2 of my friends appeared on this list b/c they thought they knew what they were doing and paid the ultimate price to find out they were wrong....

i am not saying you are going to die as soon as you get in the car, i'm just asking you to stay humble when you get behind the wheel....if i had a car like this when i was your age, i am pretty sure that at best i would be dead, or at the worst I would be responsible for someone else's death....just stay humble

  9. and I'm only 17, I guess I'm rather lucky. I

they say when you are born you have 2 buckets, a Luck bucket and an Experience bucket. The Luck bucket is full to the brim, the Experience bucket is empty. As you grow up, you make choices (often bad ones) and you pour a little out of your Luck bucket into your Experience bucket. The trick is to fill up your Experience bucket before you empty your Luck bucket! There are different variations on this, but you get the idea.....good luck with your ride, and like i tell my friends before every skydive...Have fun, don't die!!!!

i read this the other day on this forum, check it out and try not to end up a headline

  10. My old carpool buddy was in the 82nd Airborne in the late '50's. When he came home he taught his brother to jump and they were one of the first skydiving exhibition teams in the southern Ohio area.

i have a bunch of buddies that are ex-military in the sport....skydiving has literally changed/saved my life! it's given me an escape from all the Monday-Friday crap, and literally gives you a new perspective on life with regards to what is important and why you should let the little stuff slide! I know that sounds like another cheesy zen-crap-like philosophy but it is true....I started jumping 7 years ago, have made 1000+ jumps, have an instructor rating (and will be getting a second this year), have been hospitalized twice from injuries, and lost 3 good friends to the sport....and I will jump until the day I die!

what is your buddy's name? the skydiving world is fairly small, maybe I have met him before....

  11. Yo, dat is sooo sik bro!!! lookin tite and feelin rite! Dat bomb done went off!!! I'm still feelin da flash! Dayum!!! :)

    LOL!!

Very nice Bros. So, have you started it and run it yet then?

oh ya.... it sounds sick! :D only problem is i want more, more of everything, especially power....as soon as i put something on the car i already want something better.....i am thinking that depending on the how this season goes (staying healthy wise), i will have have $6k+ from jumping (i am an instructor and shoot videos/pics)....i want i want i want: coil overs and a supercharger!

i now understand dictators and why they battle to control 3rd world countries....power is intoxicating!!!!!

  12. so far I have checked off: eibach pro kit, injen intake, clear side markers, tenabe medallion cat back, fog mod, and nixed the daytime running lights.....

still left to do: mazzuri header, hotchkis sway bars, and painting the calipers (including caliper decals)....everything is sitting in the garage, but family commitments will keep me from getting to these for a few weeks....which is painful as we are only a few weeks away from the start of the skydiving season so my free weekends will be few and far between! :(

huge thanks to Smooth for all his help so far (and thanks in advance for all the questions that I have to come)....big thanks as well to Flop and Bartkat for the knowledge.... You guys are the cause of, and solution to, all of my wife's b*tching! :D

you da man Bart....also, i changed my oil for the first time this weekend, could that have done it??? maybe i just beat the 5000 mile mark for the oil change by 50 miles or so.....btw, that was probably the most painful and frustrating oil change i have ever done in my life....my wife was actually scared at the obsenities that were flying from the garage on Sunday afternoon....

just ran out and reset the light, worked like a charm...thanks again Bart

  15. it just came on this morning and I don't have my code reader with me....is the MAINT REQD a result of a code? i am a short over 43K on the car....i am thinking it may be a result of the work the dealer did on my car about a week ago....the front left wheel sensor had to be be replaced after i put on the eibach pro-kit springs (apparently i jacked the sensor wire removing the spring).... i noticed over the past 3 or 4 days that when pulling into parking spots with the wheels turned to the left (at very low speeds), the abs seems to activate very briefly....then this morning on the way to work the MAINT REQD light came on right after i pulled up to a stop sign and had the abs thing activate (again, very low speed, probably less than 5mph)....

i am going to swing by autozone at lunch to see if they can pull a code....but any thoughts from the resident smart folks?!?

    thanks,

    brosni-frustrated

  16. I think the confusion is coming from Brosnibean didn't mention that he isn't just putting a new header on, He also got a new y pipe, and a full exhaust system from Tenabe with a new downpipe, and muffler.

:blushing: ya, everything is getting replaced....thanks to mazzuri and a friend in Orlando! ;)
