  1. I think it would have been easier using a test lamp or voltometer. That way you can see where the current is or isn't. For example, if you find there is no current going into the amp, then obviously you have a faulty wire connection somewhere before the amp or possibly at the head unit.

This saves alot of trouble of taking apart stuff when it is really uneeded. :)

take a speaker that you konw works and connect leads from it to the leads of the "bad" back speakers, if the good one works--it is the speakers not the amp.

i did this to trouble shoot mine. both back speackers went out.

  2. I have a '95 SC400 and several months ago used my emergency brake.  Since then the brake indicator light on the instrument panel goes on and off while I am driving.  Sometimes even when I am sitting still.  Just curious if the emergeny brake hasn't released all the way or whether this is something I am just going to have to deal with.  I can't tell that I have any resistance while driving.  Any help is greatly appreciated!

you might want to have your brake pads checked, i believe this light also appears, if the brake pads get to thin.

  3. No dont try to take off the speaker covers. For the front you have to remove the whole door panel and the speaker cover is screwed on to the door panel. as for the rear you need to remove the back seats and unscrew the back boared and then unscrew the covers off the boared. its long and time consuming.

p.s. where did u find new covers?

  6. can anyone tell me how to remove the leather cover over the emergency

brake handle? my dash brake light flicks on and off occasionally

till i push down on the emergency brake handle and i think that

maybe a switch under the cover needs adjustment--am i right?

  7. the rear speakers are 4 1/2" and require removing the back deck to get to them. this is not a difficult job

but a time consuming one. you have to remove the back seat first. you can test your amp by using a "good"

speaker and touching a hot wire to your "bad" speaker lead ins, if the "good" speaker works then your amp is ok.

you can do this from the trunk without removing anything. i had both of my back speakers die at once and did

this procedure to find the problem. its wasn't my original idea but a good one.

  8. t0ked is correct. The 4" rear speaker sit in a plastic pod. I removed mine yesterday. The paper cone was competely gone. The sun had dried it to dust. The hole in the metal rear deck is 4 1/4 inches in dia. and the span across the specker bolt down holes is 7 inches. I am going today and find a speker that will fit the precut opening. I will post the size that fits --hopefully-- tomorrow.

  9. DO NOT KNOW. BUT I AM GOING TO THE LEXUS DEALER NEAR ME TOMORROW. IF I REMEMBER, I WILL ASK THE PARTS MANAGER WHAT IT COSTS.

YOU COULD TRY TO FIND ONE ON E-BAY. ACTUALLY I NEVER USE MINE BECAUSE THE FLIP DOWN HOLDER WILL NOT HOLD ANYTHING BUT A 12 OZ. SODA CAN OR SMALL COFFEE CUP. ALL THE CONTAINERS YOU BUY TODAY :P ARE TO LARGE FOR ANY OF THE CUP HOLDERS IN AN SC OR IT SEEMS THAT WAY TO ME.

  10. DON'T KNOW ABOUT LEXUS BUT MY G.M. CAR HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM AND IT WAS THE SPEED SENSOR CONTROL THAT WENT BAD.

THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT RIGHT AND THE TACH WOULD JUMP . OCCASSIONALLY, IT WOULD WORK FINE THEN ACT UP AGAIN.

IT COST ME ABOUT $180.00 TO GET IT FIXED AT A G.M. DEALER. HOPE THIS HELPS--GOOD LUCK LETS US KNOW WHAT'S WAS THE PROBLEM.

  11. HOW DO YOU "GET" TO THE TAIL LIGHT BULBS. THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON FOR A BLOWN TAIL LIGHT BULB. BUT LOW AND BEHOLD WHEN I OPENED THE TRUNK, THE BULB RECEPTICALS WERE NO WHERE TO BE FOUND. I AM GUESSING THAT THE TAIL LIGHT LENSE COVERS MUST BE REMOVED BY LOOSENING THE SMALL NUTS ON THE SCREWS STICKING THROUH THE REAR OF THE TRUNK. AM I CORRECT?

  12. AMP ON SC400 IS UNDER THE CD CHANGER IN THE TRUNK.

MY REAR SPEAKERS RECENTLY WENT OUT -WELL NOT COMPLETELY-IF I PUT ALL POWER TO THE REAR, I CAN FAINTLY HEAR THEM. I WOULD BET THAT IT'S CAUSE BY A PARTIAL AMP FAILURE. I CAN'T IMAGINE THAT BOTH REAR SPEAKERS WOULD GO OUT AT THE SAME TIME. HAS ANYONE "FIXED" THIS PROBLEM YET?
