  1. I have a CEL w/code of Po401 on my '97 sc300. It refers to Egr and I just do not see it on the engine .Does anyone have a picture or anything else which would direct me to it. Will it do any harm to my engine to drive with this condition . Would really appreciate all and any help with this problem.

    thanx,

    Jim

  2. I went to AutoZone this morning and they read my CEL code. It was PO401 and the definition was too little flow on the EGR system and follows;

    1. Blocked passage on EGR system.

    2. Failed EGR valve.

    3. Failed EGR pressure sensor where applicable.

    4. " " position " " " ......

Has anyone run into this problem, ( the car runs great and MPG are great ),and if so , any suggestions ? Has anyone used Seafoam in the intake and would this possibly take care of this problem.

    thanx for any help,

    jerzyjim

  3. I have a 1997 sc300 with 123,000 miles on it. There is an intermittent CHECK ENGINE LITE for a short time and then goes off for a week or two and then reappears for a while once again. The car runs wonderful and just went thru state inspection with unbelievable low emissions. I don't know how to get the codes when the CEL appears. I have a theory, could the O ring gasket on the gas cap be the culprit.

    thanx for all help,

    jerzyjim

  4. I just bought a '97 sc 300 and I'm about to put new tires on it. What size over, with keeping the original rims 16, can I go and what side effects can I expect.

    In other words, can I go 225/50/16 or 225/45/16 or 235 ?

    thanx,

    jerzyjim

  5. jerzyjim, I was looking at your car model under your name it say you own a 94, must be a type o.

The way I had to change my foglight bulbs for my Sc400 '95

    1. Take off the front tire's for easier access to foglight (optional), but makes it easier to gain access to fog light casing. Option 2 turn the wheel (left/right) so the front tire faces out away from the front fender. unscrew 3 or 4 of the bolts of the fender splash guard to gain access to the fog light.

    2. The fog light will be enclosed, with a circular plastic cap. I believe you turn it

counter clock-wise to open the casing. This will give you access to the bulb

    and socket.

    4. To separate the fog light wire wiggle and tug at the same time, until it jars loose.

*NOTE* disconnect the wire from the socket before you open the clasp. This

keeps the bulb in place and out of your way.

    5. To open the clasp, I believe you push down and it will unfasten.

    Hope this helps?

    Thanx so very much.

    Jim :)

  6. jerzyjim, 94' Sc were equipped with cornering lights, it may not be burned out. They operate only with the turn signal, unless they were convert to fog lights?

My '97 SC has a headlite/fog lite switch on the steering column. If the fog lite switch is not turned on, then the same lamps become cornering lites. If it is turned on, they are driving/fog lites. My problem is that the passenger side does both functions, but the driver's side does neither! I'm trying to find out how to change the driver's side bulb.

    thanx,

    jim

  7. I have seen a couple of threads about cleaning out headlights on our cars , pretty much all that involve , removing them, baking in an oven, taking apart, cleaning, buffing , putting them back together, and reinstalling them. WAY TOO MUCH DARN WORK to clean some lenses.

I have a body shop along with all else at my shop , so for giggles i decided ( BY HAND) to take some 3M PERFECT-IT 2 and some meguires cleaner/wax and give it a go.

All i did ( BY HAND ) was get after it ( WHILE STILL ON THE CAR) with the 3m perfect-it 2 two times and then apply the meguires and I SWEAR IT LOOKS LIKE BRAND NEW!!!!! NO BUFFER AT ALL! I did BOTH headlights AND the lower turn/drive lamps in less than 30 minutes! Im going to hit it with the buffer tuesday just for that BLING effect but it really doesnt need it at all! The 3m is an AWESOME compound, only costs about 20.00 for a bottle (which will probably last you for a couple of years!) Plus you could use it for other things on the car i.e. scratches.

I couldnt see the headlight projector they were so oxidized! Now they look like Brand new! And i MEAN brand new! And to think i ALOMST spent over 300.00 last night on ebay for a new pair!

Ill post some pics tonight when i get home , somebody try it and tell me if it isnt worth the MERE 30 MINUTES to do it.

see ya guys , Joe P.
