I suppose if it is a hybrid then ensure that they have carried out a hybrid health check to make sure the batteries are in first class condition and capacity is not compromised by lack of use during any lockdown period.
Otherwise, they are generally superb vehicles and you shouldn't have any problem as long as it also comes with a dealer and/or manufacturer warranty

Thanks.  Non-Hybrid and comes with no warranty. I know the PPI will point out any major mechanical things, but not sure what it would pick up related to the internal electronics like the NAV, etc.

  2. I'm looking at a Used 2017 Lexus RX350 AWD with 16K miles on it (specs attached.)  I have not actually seen it in person as it is some distance away.

I will have a PPI prior to any final purchase, but what are some of the bugs I should look for on my own as a non-mechanical person? I may not have asked the question right, so please prompt me.

    Thanks in advance.

  3. I had that problem and went to my local Locksmith and they had the blade and shell, they were able to cut the key and put the insides from my old shell in and it worked great! Price was great like $32. They said you can also contact them and they can cut the key from the key code (which you can get free from the dealer) or you can mail them the broken blade and they can cut it and mail it back to you. They charge an additional $5.00 to cover shipping anywhere in the US. How cool is that! Oh and while I was there I said I would like an extra key that would just start the car (not wanting the remote part) and they cloned mine. So now I have a spare key that works great it cost like $80-85.

Here is link if you need it www.boydslocksmith.com

Thanks for this referral. Ordered my key on Friday, and it arrived today. Worked on the first try.

  4. I believe I have a similar problem, though don't know for sure.

    2002 RX300 AWD

Intermittently, the window will stop moving up or down... it just stops. If I leave the button alone for a little while (minutes, hours, or days,) the window will just start working again. The first time this happened, I made an appointment with the dealer to have it checked out. Of course, it was working before I could take it in, so I canceled the appointment.

    I have two questions.

#1 If the problem is intermittent, is there any way that the dealer is going to be able to identify the problem? (I don't think so, but you don't know till you ask!)

#2 I have 4-months left on the CPO warranty. Would this be covered under the CPO warranty, or is it something they'll try to get out of.

    Regards,

  5. I have checked into some aftermarket but then the color will not match.

That's not necessarily true. I took my '94 ES300 to a shop in Scottsdale, AZ that was able to match the leather perfectly. When the time comes to replace the upholstery in my '02 RX300, I'll go to the same place. I'll see if I can find the name of it.

  6. ... It appears to be worth $19-20K with the add for low miles of only 50,000 (does that value sound realistic??)...

WRT this question, you are in the ballpark as that is about what I paid for mine from a dealer in TX in December. As for the tires, I'd get the new ones. The better ride will help sell the vehicle.

  7. For those that are not aware, Barbershop Quartets (male and female) will be delivering singing valentines again this year. This is a unique opportunity to say "I love you" or "I want to embarass you" (or both). Generally, cost is about $50 for 2-songs, a card, and a rose and/or candy. It is a memorable event for the recipient... and is not something that you see everyday.

If you don't know someone that sings in a Quartet or Chorus, you can always check out http://www.singingvalentines.com to find a group nearby.

  8. I'll preface by saying that I have an aversion to working with dealers. In a past life, I sold cars for a short time and found out what an unpleasant experience it could be for the customer; however, the experience with Hoy Fox was anything but unpleasant.

My first contact with Hoy Fox came in November when I found a vehicle via the Internet that interested me. At that point, I was in the "just looking" phase and wanted to see what was out there in 2002+ RX300 AWD. Scott McCutchen sent me 35 pictures of vehicle and a brief description. After explaining my phase to him, Scott replied a respectful "thank you", and I did not hear from him again. (This is opposed to another dealer that wouldn't leave me alone!)

Fast-forward a month later. I've done the research that I need, looked on a few lots in Albuquerque and the Phoenix area, and am ready to look more seriously. (Note that I made an appointment to see a vehicle in Albuquerque only to arrive and find the vehicle locked and the keys nowhere to be found  ) I contact Scott again with an update, and let him know that I am very interested in his vehicle (it was still available), but want to do as much work online as possible as I'm 4-6 hours from El Paso.

Through email and a couple of limited phone calls, the price was determined and my trade was even appraised from pictures and desciption. It was simply down to driving to El Paso, writing the check, and driving home. (By time we had a brief delay due to another customer, drove the vehicle, checked out, and had a thorough walkthrough, we were still at the dealership almost 4-hours.)

I'd stongly recommend doing business with Hoy Fox, and specifically Scott.

  9. I believe I read on the Garmin site somewhere that map updates come out in the Spring. You may have the most current map that is available, but you can check back with Garmin regularly to see if it is updated.

  10. Maybe it's been pulled. I get the following error with your link:

The eBay page or feature you are attempting to access is not responding.

    Please try the options below:

Try to access the feature directly from the eBay Home Page, instead of using a bookmark.

Wait a few minutes and try to access the feature again.

  11. I'm new to Lexus, having been a Volvo driver for 25+ years and a frequent user of various Volvo forums. I've never seen anything like the tantrum I witnessed in his posts. I hope the original poster is in no way representative of Lexus owners because I do not in any way want to be associated with a**h**e* like that. Where do people get that sense of entitlement, and complete failure to take any responsibility for their own screwups. Anyone who knows enough to use Langka should know immediately if there is something wrong with a paint being used. It should not be necessary to remove several layers. Please tell me that his behavior was the exception.

IME, this poster is the exception. Remember that trolls live everywhere.

    p.s. I don't post a lot, but I read a bit.

  12. I'm working with a dealer about 4-hours away on acquiring a 2002 RX300 AWD which, believe it or not, is certified. He's faxed me the maintenance records on the vehicle which is somewhat helpful, but I don't know some of the stuff (and I don't have an owners manual yet ;) ).

    • * What is involved in the 60000 mile service?
      * Any idea what "F.DSC 1-SD (ON-VEH) represents? (It's been done twice.)

  13. 94 ES 300 with 160K miles for $3,900 book is currently $6,900

    One owner

The only problems with it are the radio antenna will not retract and the apholstery was pulled loose in the passenger side leg compartment. I fixed this with Gorilla glue in a few minutes.

Also it did not have the seat warmers that are standard according to the manual, but they had not been removed so the first owner must have chosen to leave them out.

According to the brochure (http://www.lexus.com/contact/pdf/1994/1994ESspecs.pdf,) the seat warmers are an option. I know that mine doesn't have them, but I've rarely missed them.
