  1. im only getting maybe 260 miles to a full tank on a 2000 gs3. does anyone know why or what i can do to fix this? and im also blowing white smoke at full throttle. i have had all of the o2 sensors replaced and even have brand new cats? anything advice would be helpful.

you have your car idling too long. i've read that you only need 30 seconds of warm up in the mornings. the temp. guage doesnt necessarily have to hit a certain level. Do your research online to make sure. This should add another 40 mpg

you live in cali tho. does it ever get below 60 degrees there? haha.

You sure the smoke is coming out your exhaust? If it is, could be a gasket starting to go. If not, could be overflow burning off the manifold. Check your coolant level. Also, "full throttle" has a lot to do with mileage.

coolant is full and yes its coming out of the exhaust

  3. i have been looking around for an exhust or maybe getting a custom set up. i came across the 5zigen fireball catback. i was wondering if anyone knows if its a dual cat-back and what kind of price i would looking at for that? or if anyone has any suggestions for a custom set up (piping size, mufflers, etc)

  4. jarvix, my gs430 is getting about the same mileage! i only got 21-22 driving on interstate from pa to memphis....... i was po'ed! i only get from 15-17 in the city and yes i have a lead foot but still even when i try to stay off it for a week to find my mileage im disappointed! i will follow the bulletin and see if u get any help that will help me! although as far as i know im not blowing any smoke at wot!

i didnt pay anything for the cats and o2 sensors. i traded my pioneer flip out to a guy that works at a shop and he got them for me and installed them. nice to know people in the auto industry when you have a money pit lexus lol

  5. 256 miles on a tank... thats about what i get before i fill up with the gas light on for a dozen miles or so. The usual purchase is for 15 gallons...which is 17mpg... i think you may have just calculated wrong because your car does not hold 21 gallons of gas... although new iridium plugs wouldn't hurt.

no i didnt do the math wrong. my gs3 has a 19 gallon tank

256miles divided by 19 gallons... assuming you somehow drove you car til the tank was completely empty would give you mileage of 13.473684210526315789473684210526mpg... or so... 13.5mpg is not 12 mpg like you said.. and also I highly doubt you bought 19 gallons of gas on your last fill up unless you pushed your car to your gas station... so either your math is wrong...or the numbers you put up here are. In either case, try cleaning out the throttle body as they get filthy on our cars. A seafoam treatment wouldn't hurt either. On another note my mileage went up to 17.5mpg on my second to last fillup which is the best I've gotten in a long time. I was averaging about 15mpg these past few weeks.

  7. Hi!

I own a Mk2 GS300 and would like a header, but finding it really hard to find them. Even a search on these forums are coming up a blank. Is it true that no one makes them?

I've read that some people have modified the original, cut and then custom fabricate to the main cat. any opinions on this? is it any good?

has anyone managed to modify a IS300 manifold to fit?

I've seen a picture of CarbonGS's engine bay with a shiny exhaust manifold... is that a stock manifold modified?

Sorry about all the questions... i get an error when i try and PM.

    Thanks!

i think the is300 headers will fit. you may have to modify them to fit on to the rest of them exhaust tho

  8. I just took my 2000 GS400 in for its annual inspection. It has 77,000 miles and is in excellent shape. The dealer called and said I needed to replace the front ball joints. He said this was common on GS and LS models at around 75,000 miles. He even showed me the old ball joints and pulled up on down on it to demonstrate the play.

Is this normal or have I have been had?

i have a 2000 gs3 i didnt have to replace my ball joints until 119k

  9. Either the little speaker or where the sound is coming from is hidden and in a spot its not supposed to be in or the volume has been adjusted. my mechanics said there is a thumbwheel of some sorts under the dash that you can adjust it with. i have searched and i havent found it yet. does anyone here know where it could possibly be? thanks.
