  1. I have a 1992 SC400. It's had two owners. I purchased it from my financial advisor in 2003 for $7,500. He was the original owner. The speedometer read 91,000 miles when I bought it. I've increased the mileage to 139,000. The exterior color is forest green. This has been an excellent investment. No major repairs have been required. In 2005, the power steering pump began leaking and, because it's located above the alternator, it shorted the windings and both had to be replaced. Both interior door opening levers have been replaced after snapping off during normal use a year apart. Cost of labor and parts: $179.00 each. The a/c system was converted from the original freon in 2006. All work has been done by a local shop that specializes in Toyota/Lexus repairs. Because there's a long list of maintenance repairs that must/should be done, I've not made mods as yet. I'm sure most owners of early SC300/400s have the same problems: headlight assemblies must be frequently cleaned outside while condensation diffuses light output inside; leather seats have cracked and creased; and the audio system has died with a string of "F"s across the dial (perhaps a subtle message from Nakamichi?). I pay about $1,200 per year for high end liability and comprehensive insurance coverage. This is about 40% less than I paid in Miami before I moved to the west coast of Florida about a year ago. I'm pleased to find a forum that is so well focussed on the SC series. I hope we can share resources and experiences to help keep these magnificent cars on the road and in great shape.
