    Soo i have a Gs400 is a 98 and worked fine before but now whats happening is my battery is being drained out. So i change the battery and works good for 1 or 2 days than the battery light comes on. A little after that maybe like 3 hours driving with the battery light on.... the vsc, abs, and vsc light all light up. Soon after maybe 10 min after those lights come on the car dies completely even when its in drive. and there no more charging it. If i jump it, it starts for a second but as soon as i put it in drive it dies. For the last month i have been going in walmart and exchanging my battery in for another one. Basically for a temp fix every 2 says. I was told it was the alternator so i had the alternator pulled and checked at kragen. Turn out the alternator passed all the tests, so what is it. please someone help. please i need help bad

    When you're talking about the batt what do you mean "there's no more charging it"? Did you get a report from kragen and what tests? Have you tested the batt's you're returning? I can't believe they're all defective! If they're not defective, why is walmart exchanging them? What readings are you getting?

    there not defective they just drain out with my car and what i mean by there's no more charging it is even if i jump the car the charge wont last because the battery's completely juiced out. I went to kragen they checked the alternator they said it was good so what is draining my battery??? walmart is exchanging them because i go to different walmarts around here never the same one

    Sir I am having the same headaches you had/have, I have also gone through what you did and I am now fraustrated. Could you please share if you fix your problem and what was the problem and the fix.

    First of all, let's make sure a drain is your prob. Check that your serpentine belt is nice and tight and not slipping. Next check that your connections to both the batt and alt are also nice and tight. You could check the continuity of the cables as well. Check grounds. If they all check out, then next hook up a ammeter to measure the draw from the batt. Measure it with all systems off (including the engine of course :P ) If there's no noticeable reading, then check your voltage at the batt with the engine running to see what the alt is putting out. Make sure your leads are making contact at the actual batt terminals. If you're getting between ~13 - 14 v, then next have the batt tested.

    sorry for the late response ive been going crazy trying to find the problem. I have changed the serpentine belt just to rule that out of the equation. The connections are tight to the battery and the alternator. I took it to a shop and they said my solnoid in my transmission is grounding or thiers a short in the transmission. Please help me now how much is that gona cost to fix so i dont get ripped of. please help me i have gona threw aout 25 batterys in about a 1 month period

    Since you're obviously not a diy, take your car to Toyota and have them test your charging system. My guess is your alt is toast. If you like, call them first to find out what they'll charge you for a diagnosis. Ask them to measure for a possible parasitic drain on the batt as well.

  3. I noticed just a slight delay when starting my 98 GS300, so I asked tire shop to check my batttery when they mounted my Blizzaks, they said battery was shot, so replaced with AC/Delco. I wasn't driving it much but a week later, the car doesn't start, just clicks. Jumped it, return to Tire Shop, they replaced with new one. It starts fine 4 or 5 times, just to move for snow removal, after ten days or so, then drive around the block, warm it up and shortly later, no start again, just clicks. Jump it fine and it started okay the next day....any ideas. Does this sound like alternator problem....I know nothing about mechanics, I'll take it to different mechanic, but just wanted to know your thoughts, thanks.

    My 1994 GS300 have a problem in which it drains the battery. I bought new battery and it is now drained. I tried starting the car even while getting a jump and it wont do anything not even the occassional clicking sound you would sometimes get. The dash board will light up and even the headlights and radio will come on after trying to jump start but the engine will not crank nor even give a potential starting sound, nothing. The next day the battery will go completely dead again. Is it the Alternator, Battery, Starter or? I need your help guys. Thanks in advance as I await your expertise.

  5. WHY IS IT THT I CAN NOT FIND ONE GS 300 1ST GEN FOR SALE IN THE LA SAN BERNARDINO AREA LET ME KNOW YOUR THOUGHT ON WHY THERE SO HARD TO FIND AND IF YOUVE SEEN ONE AT A DECENT PRICE LET ME KNOW.

    I have a 1994 GS300 with 178k on it. All maintenance up to date. I am asking $4000. I have a 1993 which I am keeping.

  6. I did the Ac code pull & it came back code 24

    The light stays solid for 3 sec then starts to blink when the ac is on.

    The compressor is quite and it clicks on for 2 sec and then shuts off , it was ice cold just the other day

    The vehicle is a 99 gs300

    Any help would be great!

    After a review of the compressor , the clutch appears that it needs to be replaced i can turn it by hand as i should be able to ?, but it has play back and forth and side to side + has grease pressing out from the front ,

    I know this post was a few years ago but I am having the same problem you are having. Did you changed the compressor and did it solve your problem?

    I found this to help with the replacement of the ac clutch. Can anyone confirm that you can change the ac clutch on the vehicle? , & not have to release the freon?

    Also the best place to find a replacement ac clutch at a bargain, I don't know if you have any dealers that give discounts on this site the anyone could refer me to.

  7. Hello everyone, new to posting on the forum...I did a search on this topic of tire shake. I have read all of your posts and I will be looking into the hubcentric thing. I have added new front tires, with no significant improvement or change. I also plan on installing new drilled/slotted rotors and new pads...we'll see what happens.

    However, while I am there I would like to know if anyone here has changed out the rack bushings to polyurethane ones. The stock suspension with the 17" rims and rough roads may take an early toll or offer some wear on these, so I am curious as to your responses. I bought the car with 62,000 (now at 72,000) so I don't have a history, it would be interesting to know if the tire shake was a problem with the car when the car was purchased new? :unsure:

    On a separate note, has anyone installed the Intrax sway bars? Looking to level the car out just a bit more than stock around the corners...nothing too radical.

    go to www.clublexus.com and there is a topic on "pretensioner" pretensioner adjusting have solve the problem that you are having. before you spend more money please check it out. I did a post earlier tonight which include a link to the info. please look at my post.

    Can somebody please do a course of actions needed to fix this god da%$ problem.

    I have 17" BBS rims and Firestone Firehawks and you can't get much better than that and mine still rattles the teeth out of my head from 55-65. Thats Bullsh%$ on a car like this. Factory rims and lugs do the same thing (Blizzacks mounted on factory rims).

  10. ok seriously i had the same shake everyone had but mine mainly was at 80 + (which is where i spend most my time anyways) so i just had my tires replaced with my michelin energy mxv4's, new alignment (my rear was out a little and my front caster is out but they said that isnt adjustable), and nitrogen in the tires..... havent driven on the highway yet but from the ride from the shop back to my work (seriously maybe half a mile between our works) and OMFG that was the smoothest ride i have EVER riden in! i shall be going to nashville from memphis tomorrow morning so i will see how the interstate ride is!

  11. I just got my alternator changed on my GS400 - Solved all power issues I was having. However, when I got the car back I used the AUTO function on the AC/HEAT to maintaine a certin temp. When doing so the AC light just flashes and no cold air comes out. I've checked to ensure that all pully wheeles where turning and there wasn't to much slack on the belt - All checked out fine. The AC worked before the alternator was replaced ...... Any ideas

    Did you get your AC issue fix and what was wrong?

    Please check your AC relay,MG CLT or Mag Clutch Relay first to see if that is the problem, if not it could be your AC speed sensor. The ac speed sensor sees a difference between the engine speed and the actual compressor speed if there is a difference of 10% or more it shuts off and flashes the AC light. It could also be that the belt is not tight enough. Good luck.

  13. did you` guys not see the thread about fixing the shake on second generation by adjusting the steering pretensioner. this apparently fixed their shaking problem, they even post pictures and how to so please look it up.

    My problem is shaking on a 1994 GS300 which I lead to believe does not have an adjustable steering pretensioner, therefore, I will continue to explore options to fix my problem while racking up $$$$$

    does anyone know a good LEXUS mechanic near or around Snellville Georgia area?

    Guys I took my 1994 GS300 to Kaufman's Tire and they balance my tires and my car runs smooth like new. Inspite of such result I was upset because I took my car to NTB for balancing approximately four times and the care was still shaing, NTB told me that I need new rims because my rims were bent. I went out and purchase new rims, went back to NTB since I have balancing and lifetime paid for dor one year. Again they did not balance my wheels right, I was thinking that maybe I need suspension parts. I was driving by Kaufman's Tires in Loganville Georgia off HWY 78 went in and they balanced my tires and make my care feel new again. That tells me that there are tire shops out there that either dont care or dont know what they are doing. Good luck to you other guys with same issue.

  14. It is not recommended to replace the castle nuts with any other type. It is permissible to continue tightening the castle nut until the next slot in the nut aligns with the hole in the stud.

    According to a few guys onthe forum, they fix this problem by adjusting the steering pretensioner. so search the site and you will find info on how to fix your problem.

  16. I did a post late last year because my A/C light in my 1994 GS300 was flickering on and off. I was told by a few people that it could have been my A/C compressor clutch. I went out bought a new compressor and it turns out that the problem was not the clutch it was the A/C pressure switch a $60.00 problem. I decided to post this in the event someone have the same problem where the A/C flickers on and off to check the pressure switch before buying a new compressor. Good luck guys.

  18. I too have a couple questions concering the stereo system in my '92 Lexus SC400. The factory stereo, when turned on, has lost a lot of its output, meaning that i have to turn the volume knob all the way loud and you can barely here the audio. Its done this a couple times since ive had the car (2 months) and it would work later just fine. Now its become permanent, for 2 days straight now and ive tried everything. Shut the car off and crank it back on. My antenna works fine as far as i can tell. ive even takin the volume knob off too to make sure it was in line right. It cant be the speakers going out as when i turn it all the way up although you can barely hear it, i toggle with the balance and fade and get up close to each one and they all work and it would also be too much of a coincedence for all 4 to go out at the sametime anyway. Im not too worried about the factory as i bought a double din in dash dvd player to replace it BUT im concerned that this might not be a problem with the factory deck but maybe something behind the dash, any help guys it would be much appreciated! Another quick question, do i need a wiring harness to install my aftermarket deck, if so where can i find one at as best buy and circuit city couldnt get a dash kit for it (which is why i went with the double din aftermarket) so im thinking they cant get the harness either or is it even needed? If it is someone please show me where i can get it at once again my model is a '92 SC400! Thanx all!!!

  19. Hey everyone! I had a quick question I figured someone on here could answer for me, or at least point me in the right direction. I've got a fairly new Pioneer head unit (Pioneer DEH-P4800MP) that I bought to put in my Jeep, but since then I bought a 97 SC300 (which I love, by the way) and I've decided I want to put it in there instead. I much prefer the direct line-in sound quality of the aftermarket Pioneer to the tape adapter I'm using now. I currently have the stock Lexus premium sound, not the Nakamichi. I know that there's a sub and a mono amp somewhere and I'll need the correct wiring harness so all of that stuff will work. I'm just not sure where to go about finding the harness. If anybody could let me know what, if anything, else I need, or could point me in the direction of the correct harness, it would be much appreciated. Also, if anyone has any suggestions as to a better option for line in, such as using the changer line-in or an fm modulator, I'm open to anything. I wasn't sure if the changer line-in could be used or not. As you can see I'm pretty lost here. Haha. Thanks in advance!

Im my soarer i have a dvd screen and the dvd player in and i dont need a dash kit, there is a small gap at the bottom but if you keep the flap for your ash tray up then you cant even see it but before that i had bought a supra kit and it worked just fine but theone i bought was cheap and broke

    did you have to bypass the amp? if so where can I get a bypass kit
