  1. Can a problem with the transmission cause the engine light to come on. I had various codes for the past 6 months and have had all plugs and coils replace, had both O2 sensors, mass air flow sensor and rear OCV replaced, Now after about 200 miles light is back on, tach seems to run higher than usual now and car does not seem to downshift properly. Any ideas? Am going to have codes read tomorrow, (garage is closed today.)
  2. Thanks for the tip about the speaker cowls but my noise seems to be coming around the fuse box by the steering wheel, its like a clicking sound.
  3. How did you rebuild the mini speakers?
  4. I seem to hear it when I'm stopped.only. What are Tweeters and the climate control? I do not have the heat or ac on.
  5. I have a crackling noise in the car, can't tell if it's in the dashboard or under the dash, sounds electrical to me but have no problems with anything else. Any thoughts?
  6. Just replaced all plugs and coils now tach is running funny. When I accelerate below 40 it will go to about 2,000 rpm before shifting into upper gear and tach falls to normal. When I go toward 60 tach will reach 3000 rpm or higher before shifting and going back to normal, If I just touch gas pedal from a stop tach zooms right to 2000 rpm. Any thoughts?
  7. Had codes for misfire 1,3 and 5 cylinders. Replaced all 6 plugs and coils now car runs worse than before and check engine light will flash at times. Did I ruin cat or timing belt or could it be something simple I might have over looked? Any suggestions would be appreicated.
  8. Thanks for the tip , I'll give it a shot and check the sensors. Can you clean the sensors with MAF cleaner?
  9. Thanks for the info, I thought about replacing O2 sensors but they are pricey. Should I do the front one first, being it is easier to get to? Anyone ever try cleaning the O2 sensors? Can it be done?
  10. Yes it was PO125 they replaced temp switch and sensor, Tell me this car sends false codes, so I wouldn't know where to begin. If they fix everything the code says and it still reads the same, what good are the codes if it happens to be a false one? I hate spending money and still havine the problem.
  11. Took my 1999 Rx 300 in for PA inspection and it failed the emissions test. Mechanic replaced thermostat and both sensors but Check engine light still comes on they had to give me a waiver on the emission test because in PA if you spend over $150.00 they will give you a 1 year waiver. I don't know what to check now or where to start. Any suggestions what could be causing the Check engine light to stay on?
  12. Okay, thanks, I'll go back to Autozone and have another scan done and see what code I get. If it is the exhaust manifold is that a do it yourself deal or leave it to a mechanic?
  13. I had the code read at Autozone and it is PO125. Says insufficient coolant temperature for closed loop. Fuel control Probable cause Faulty thermostat CTS circuit faulty I have no idea what a CTS circuit is but figured I would replace the thermostat and see what happens.
  14. How do I get or do a diagnostic test for the code?
  15. Thanks for the picture and info, it will help me to find the location. I hope it's not much of a job, going to attempt it over the weekend.
