  1. Hi everyone,

I got my new IS250 AWD in Jan this year. But since July my "Low Tire" light was on almost every one month. I took the car to the dealer, they said it happens b/c of the weather changes, and they just pump my tires or reset the sensor.

Today the light is on again, I check the tire pressure and the lowest on is 27, the highest one is 30. Are they in the correct range?

    Thanks,

    Walter

No--correct pressures are labeled on a sticker in the driver's door jamb. 35F/37R.

Sounds like they are working properly. Air pressure should't drop 10 psi in a few months...Set the pressure when the tires are cold (like first thing in the morning). Check it in a day or two..if its dropping..you picked up something in the tire like a nail, etc..

  2. When I had the TSB done, they didn't replace or cut the rotors..at first I was a bit upset..but since there isn't any pulsing or vibration in the pedal when braking, it tells me its ok...If there would have been, it would indicate warped/uneven rotors.

So I am actually glad they didn't cut them..saving meat for when the pads get replaced when worn out...My car had about 13K miles when it was done which isn't much in the life of a brake pad.

So don't get to upset if they don't cut the rotors...Replacing would be nice..but there really isn't any need to..so why should the dealer do it esp if its not part of the TSB.

I anxiously await the pricing on the F Sport brakes..which might be fun to do

  3. :cries:

I have a 2006 IS250 with 30,000 miles and my Dealer said that the IS Series have disposable rotor disc???? It sounds like every time I change my pads I will have to change my rotor disc... NOT HAPPY.. $600. a pop.........

Is anyone experiencing the same problem?????

It might be too late to change your storry but....complain about having too much brake dust on the rims of your front wheels. Lexus will replace the brake pads and rotors for free because they have a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) that fixes excessive brake dust. It does not matter how many miles are on the vehicle but it also depends on the dealer as well.

I don't think the TSIB covers the rotors..just the pads. However I have heard many dealers turn/resurface the rotors when the change the pads..but I don't think they are obliged to as part of the warranty work.

Just about all cars now don't have much extra meat on the rotors..meaning they may only be able to be turned once..or perhaps not at all before they would fall below mfg specs.

Are you getting quotes of $600 per rotor? I am assuming you are only talking about the fronts? Rears pads should wear forever as the fronts do 70% of the work. Ask the dealer what the minimum thickness is for the rotors..ask him what the current ones have now...if you still don't buy what he is saying..ask to see the measurement done by the technician.

  4. Hi everybody! Newbie here. My wife and I own a Black Pearl 06 IS250 AWD and love it!

I have a quick question that has probably been beat to death here, I'm just having alittle trouble with the search function on this forum.

I'm trying to set up a direct FM input from my Sirius S50 to the back of the factory radio input, I have all the hardware but cannot for the life of me figure out the best way to de-construct the radio area.

I've searched all over the web for a diagram or shop manual page, just haven't had any luck and I stumbled across this forum while I was doing that.

So, without breaking anything, what is the best way to access the back of the factory radio? If it helps, no navigation, jsut the 6-disc cd changer. We bought the car in Feb of 06 with the Sirius promise that never came through and can't stand XM. We've had the S50 installed for a while, but the antenna of this car picks up everything so there's tons of static all the time. The direct input should help that right?

Thanks and dont' beat the new guy! :blushing:

    You might try techinfo.toyota.com

It will cost you $10 to access and might not have what you want..but it might be woth it..rather than risk breaking something more expensive

  5. Hi,

My car is arriving within a week and I am wondering if I should apply some sealant on the body before I take my car home. I hear dealers can put 3M's sealant (not sure of the name) before delivering the car to you. Does that work well? Good idea? If so, I wonder if I should have the dealer do it, or take the car to somewhere else to have a local shop do it?

    Any suggestions?

Is it better to do it before taking the car outside or can I do that later (like in a month or two?)

    Meesh

You are probably better off doing proper paint maintenance on a regular basis rather than investing in some sort of sealant. Check out places like Meguiar's for detaling info. I tend these are better for the dealer's bottom line than your car's surface. If you are considering a clear bra check out 503 Motoring im Beaverton. If you are going to do it, do it asap as the IS has soft paint and chips easily

  6. You need something that will clean the mildew off the evaporator coil that's located under the dash. The best stuff I've found is the cleaning system at the following link.

    http://www.ackits.com/merchant.mvc?Screen=...e=coretreatment

I used this on my IS300 and it had no odor a year later. However, it's surprising that your car would have this mildew buildup so soon.

There's also a forum at their site where you can ask A/C questions and get advice.

    http://www.autoacforum.com/

How do you use this stuff? Do you have to tap into the A/C lines or does in go into the vents?

  7. My car is finally arriving in 2 weeks!! I ordered IS250 with 18" wheels. Unfortunately now we are getting into rainy season here in Oregon and I'm thinking of changing the summer tires with something that have more grip.

    Any recommendation?

Also, I've never swap tires by season before. How does it work? You'd have to bring your tires, all 4 of them in your car and have the shop replace them for you? Then, you bring back the other ones? Where do those 4 tires fit in your IS350/250?

The stock summer tires really do poorly in any amount of snow..Remember the little bit of snow we got last year in Portland??? After the second or third day when it was mostly cleared up I tried to drive my IS to to the gym..I got about 50 feet and got 'stuck'..meaning I couldn't get any traction at all...and the traction control wasn't helping either..It took me about 45 minutes to get back to the driveway..and took to guys pushing to get it over the driveway hump and into the garage...so morale of the story..if you plan on doing any snow driving at all (or think it may snow a bit when out and about) seriously consider some sort of A/S or snow tires..

I have about 10K left on my tires..I am going to seriously look at the High Performance A/S tires (Michelin or Goodyear).

Fortunatley I have an old beater 93 Toyota PU that has four studded tires on extra wheels..so if it does snow..I put them on and am good to go

  8. I JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF ANYONE HAD THE HOOK UP ON RIMS FOR MY 350.. I'M LOOKING FOR (WORK Varianza T1S 19X9 IN THE FRONT AND 19X10 IN REAR) STANDARD SLIVER OR THE LIGHTING SLIVER WILL WORK.
