The backup lights on my SC400 do not operate and also the transmission gear indicator lights on the console and on the instrument cluster do not illuminate when I am in Reverse, Neutral or Drive. They work OK in the other gear positions.
I figure there is a switch tied to the gear selector somewhere that not only switches the gear position dash lights but switches the backup lights on when the gear selector is in reverse.
I took the console apart hoping the switch would be tucked in by the shift lever. Couldn't find anything there so I crawled underneath the car and could not find any obvious switches tied to the gear selector linkage anywhere.
I tried searching through all the posts in this forum and could not find any similar problems posted.
Any remedies / ideas would be appreciated!
