the batter is inside the ECU system... Is your board a one piece board or two pieces? The ribbon cable is connected to the drive and the drive is to the bottom of the picture) I did the following. Unplugged the ECU from the car. Took off the cover. Unplugged the ribbon cable for a few minutes. Plugged the ribbon cable back in. Cover back on. Reconnected the unit in the car. Turned to key to Accessory. Error still appeared. The DVD was in the drive for the entire process. Did you power it back up between unplugging it and plugging it back in or did you simply unplug the cable, plug it back in and power up the system? Was the disk in the drive during the entire process? edit: I also tried the same thing, but this time I plugged it in with the drive disconnected. then unplugged it and put everything back together but still nothing. here's a page I threw together with a picture of the screen in Japanese. http://lexus-toyota-nav-trouble.blogspot.com/ Latest update: Inserted a disc with the LOADING.KWI file from a 4.1 upgrade DVD - no luck. Disconnected the battery for a few minutes and reconnected the battery with the car outside so the GPS had a clear view of the sky. - no luck. (this was suggested by a Lexus service manager -- He said when the system boots it determines the program to load by the satellites it sees -- sounds odd but I tried it anyways.

Does anyone know of any Japanese Lexus or Toyota forums for English speaking people?
