  1. We have an 2004 LX 470 with only 30K miles on it. The car is immaculate and we love it except when it doesn't start. Every couple of weeks on a cold start in the morning, it won't start. The key will turn and all of the dash lights will come on, but the engine will not turn over. No clicking, no sounds at all. Usually, if you turn key back to left and remove and retry it will start, but sometimes it won't start. This usually happens at home but has happened on vacation and we could not get it restarted for a couple of days. The dealer has had our car 4 times now and the car always starts for them so they say that is why they are unable to diagnose. They changed out our battery and that did nothing. We've asked them to change the starter, and they say they really need to see it not start before they do that so they can experience what we have described. They have had our car for up to 2 weeks at a time and when we get it back, its' a matter of time before the car won't start again and then we start this all over again. How can I get the dealer to be more proactive in diagnosing the problem and returning my car to me fixed? They seem content to give me a loaner car (which is nice and new, but much smaller than the LX 470 so it doesn't work for my large family and my wife's carpool duties) and keep my car indefinitely and wait for it not to start for them....then they will spring into action. That doesn't seem like much of a strategy. I wish they would at least change the starter so I feel like they are trying something. Any ideas or suggestions for pushing them and getting a comparable loaner vehicle are appreciated. Thanks
