I've been searching for an hour now and the consensus is KYB GR-2's are the best stock replacement. I'll be getting 18" rims on 225/40/ZR18s so I don't think I'll be lowering it. Some have had good experience with Monroe sensa-tracs also. Well pepboys is having a "day after thanksgiving" sale and Monroes are 30% off and $80 off install. Spend more on the KYBs or go with the Monroes???
the thin tire creats and optical illusion that there is more wheel gap. how heavy are those?
Couldn't tell ya. But I'd imagine pretty heavy considering they're 18x8, chrome, and there's a fair amount of metal. The tires will be lighter though!
would it change the ride height if they were almost identical in diameter to my stock wheels? I was thinking the same thing you were, but didn't know.
Anyone thoughts on this?
It was a Chevy Blazer, with a GMC grill ornament.
that's like saying a Ford lightning is a ford F150 with a different badge on the side. It is true that the sheetmetal is the same though.
thanks for the info.
I don't know how to make a link but here's a good article from Car and Driver back in 92 (I have a 93)
http://www.sportmachines.com/magrack/car_driver_3-92.html
I'm a new owner of a 98 lexus es300 and am loving every second of it. The ride is WAY better than my 93 typhoon, and it hasn't broken down on me yet! I'm thinking about getting some 18" rims and the place I'm looking at offers two different tire sizes
225/40/ZR18 and 215/35/ZR18
I looked up a tire size calculator and it showed that the 225's were much closer to my stock wheel diameter.
Has anyone ran 225/40/ZR18s without rubbing? - my car is stock height
Thanks for the help.
