What does cluster glass setting do ? I have the option of cluster glass hi, lo, manual 1 2 or 3 I dont see anything different

I have a GS 350 2007. I took it to my local dealer, they installed the ipod adapter for me (I can control the ipod via the nav screen, but much like everything else, it gives you very limited options when the care is in motion)....The total cost including parts/installation/labor/tax was $309
