  1. Why don't you see if you can find out if the motor in the E-bay mirror is the same as the OEM mirror. If it is, just take the motor out of the new mirror, put it in your existing mirror and you don't have to have it painted. The motor in the original mirror is probably a $1. Chinese motor like the expensive door lock actuator motors are. Pathetic that you would even have to pay $157. for it much less $900. Good point. That could be a decent solution and yes I agree Lexus is insulting to think I'd pay them $900 for a side view mirror.
  2. My wife's 04 RX330's right side view mirror started smoking yesterday. Today I started it up and let in run for about 10 minutes and noticed it isn't smoking but it no longer will adjust from left to right or vice versa. You can still make it go up and down electronically and you can adjust left to right manually. I called Lexus and they said it would have to be replaced as you can only replace the entire unit or just the mirror. Quoted price .... nearly $900. I figured it would be easily $300 but $900 is insulting. I've found aftermarket mirrors for this car on Ebay with memory for $157 - new. It is black and would have to be painted to match the color. So my questions are: 1. Has anyone ever just replaced the motor for one of these side view mirrors and if so how difficult was it? 2. What is a fair price to pay a body shop to paint this mirror if I get it off ebay? And yes I'll call a body shop or three tomorrow. 3. Does anyone have any suggestion on this problem that I may be over looking? Thanks in Advance, Don Denver, Colorado
  3. Hi, My wife's 2004 RX330 keeps getting the famous error-3 and error-4 when she tries to remove the cd's that are in the changer. I have read out here that this is a fairly widespread problem. I just called our Lexus dealer and they say it isn't a widespread problem and it will only cost us $900 to replace it with the same crappy unit that won't work now. I guess I have "stupid" stamped on my forehead or they just don't get it. My wife doesn't care about having a 6 cd changer but she does want at least a single cd player. She would also love the ability to put mp3's on a memory card (not an mp3 player), slide the card into the unit and let it play from the memory card. She was recently in a car that had this ability. Does anyone make an aftermarket product that might do this (and yes I'm searching on the net for it also) that would fit into her car without it looking like some kid took a hacksaw and cut out what is there now and duct taped a new one in? I'm hoping someone has actually done this or had someone do it so they can make recommendations. Local auto stereo shops here in Denver get absolutely horrible online reviews so I'm leaning towards a Best Buy or someone who actually stands behind their product and installation. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Calling Lexus was a total waste of my time and a bit insulting. Thanks, Don - Denver, Colorado
  4. Hi, I just bought my wife a used RX330 (first Lexus) and it is still in the factory warranty period. Lexus said I can buy an extended warranty through them as long as I don't let the current one expire. They also said it is a Lexus warranty not a third party one. Been there done that won't do that again. So my question is .... are these extended warranties worth it with Lexus or do I even need one. All we've owned are Mercedes, Volvo and Saab so with those cars we liked the extended warranty. Your opinions are appreciated. Don Denver
