  1. I'd appreciate any feedback from new 2010 RX350 owners. I lease a 2007 RX400H, lease expires in Dec '09; I received a promotion from LFS to waive the last three months payments if I trade up to a new Lexus by month's end. I'm reluctant to get a new vehicle the first year of a new model, especially since the RX platform is stand alone vs. previous years when is was based on the Camry platform. I was thinking of extending my lease another year as I love the 400H.

Though I've had no issues with the last 4 leased vehicles (GS 300, RX 300, RX 330 & RX 400H) none were the first of new model years.

    Thanks for any input.

  2. I attended the preview 2 weeks ago and was unimpressed with the new rx450h styling. The nav system/climate control will take both your eyes off the road as you try to maneuver the cursor on the display screen, which is set deep in the dash. the vehicle was a disappointment.

It makes my 2007 RX400h look like a keeper as I spring for the coastale ultimate 3 nav override.

  3. Duh my mistake!

when syncing (or pairing) an iphone after giving your phone a name in the nav screen go to iphone settings, bluetooth, turn on or enable bluetooth when you see the phone's name on your iphone screen under devices touch the name, a new screen appears, enter 1111 and the phone will pair (sync) with the vehicle's blue tooth system.

  4. DcLexus.See your original post.

    Just checked...Thanks!

an answer to the lexus arrogance about the ver 6.1 nav issues could be the new 2008 BMW diesel x5; they seem to be following detroit's lead of not listening to their customers. They send form letters in answer to written complaints instead of addressing the issue for current, not future owners. The 400h is my 4th lexus and though I do enjoy it I don't need the aggrevation the nav system gives. :cries:

  5. Factory installed Goodyear tires wore out in the first 10k miles which I am told is normal. Upgraded tires might be a little better but not much. Cause: gasoline engine cutting in and out causing change in tire rotation per dealer. Have others had this experience...seems a little bizarre to me.

both are lexus weak points, incompetent dishonest dealers and cheap american tires, change both. :chairshot:

  6. He is right, the entire nav system is second rate, like something detroit would offer. The RX400h will be my last Lexus due to disappointment with the nav system. The voice recognition doesn't recognize English very well and is dangerous; when trying to get it to give the correct response the driver's focus is on the system not the road.

While driving one can play with the nav map, look at trip info, gasoline consumption, battery charge and other useless info, but try or have your passenger try to enter a destination or phone number while moving and it is grayed out.

If the lawyers were so worried about the nav destinations or phone numbers causing accidents what about the rest of the system? The need to "agree" each time the vehicle is started is also another reason to look elsewhere.

Lexus must either provide all version 6 nav system owners with the unlock code or watch their sales decline.

  7. Not to be negative, but the voice command on the Lexus REALLY Blows. If Toyota would of spent just an ounce of R & D on the Navigation System, instead of out sourcing it, it would of been VASTLY superior to what they got as a turn key solution.

It boggles the mind. Any other system on the market in this class and price range is vastly superior. Trying out the Acura System, is a work of art. You do not need a Class A pilots licence.

I don't even bother with it anymore.

    Cheers,

    MadloR

  8. Being a return customer I thought my dealership would at least offer me some kind of discount on the 400h, but they don't seem to want to deal at all.

Here is my question ... does Lexus even WANT to sell any 400hs? Do they think people will pay what works out to be $7000-$8000 more for a similarly equipped 400h (over the 350 due to discounting on the 350 and little to none for the most part on the 400h)?

I understand some people have gotten some decent discounts on the 400h, but overall you can't work as decent of a deal. I understand it's a supply and demand issue, but Lexus doesn't seem to produce AS many 400hs as they did last year just to keep the demand up ... I don't think it sold QUITE as well as they'd anticipated last year and that's part of the lower supply provided as well.

I'm all for paying the $3400-$4000 premium for the 400h and do a little part to help the environment, but it's ridiculous when it works out to be more like $7000-$9000.

    Any opinions?

If you are looking for a deal and are a member of Costco go on line and request the name of a local Lexus dealer who works with Costco. We have a friend who leased an early 2007 RX 350 (Aug 06) for 39 mos and our lease on our comparably equipped RX400h was about $20/mo more but our lease is only 36mo. We only waited about 10 days from walking into the dealer to delivery. The RX400h is much quicker than our 2004 RX330 as well as our friend's RX350, very quiet on the highway, i.e. never heard any roof rack noise on the 400, '04 330 or '01 300; it's eerie sometimes driving around town and not hearing any motor.

The NAV system is much improved and voice recognition works great. I am still annoyed by the air recirculation "thinking" for me but will have that changed at the 1500 mile service. As noted in the link be sure to increase your TP to 37-38 for both better tire wear and gas mileage.

  9. :)

This is my first post, although I've been reading the forum to try to determine what is going on with my car. Any insight would be appreciated.

I have a 2001 RX300 (2WD), original owner, 53000 miles. I have done all the scheduled maintenance and oil changes every 3000 miles. Only repairs I have done to the vehicle are a new battery in July, 2005 and then ironically a week later the check engine light came on and I had the front 02 sensor replaced. Nothing until July of 2006 when my battery died again. After bringing it into the shop (not Lexus since I'm out of warranty), my mechanic determined that my battery was fine but my alternator needed to be replaced. He replaced it with an AC Delco alternator and fully recharged my battery. Two weeks later while waiting at a traffic light, the car stalled (although everything kept running inside--like the AC and the CD player). The car started up again, but my red battery light came on. I immediately drove back to my mechanic who determined that the alternator was bad and was not charging my battery at all (this caused the computer in the car to shut down, he said). He replaced the alternator and once again recharged my battery.

One day later my check engine light came on (along with the VSC and the Trac OFF light). Back to the mechanic, who kept it there for a day. He returned it saying that it was a "glitch in the computer system" when the car had shut down due to the bad alternator. Drove for one day and the check engine light came back on. Back again to the shop. He said that one of my other 02 sensors may be bad, but that after he cleared the codes he couldn't get the check engine light to come back on. I took the car back home. One day later the light came on again.

This time I had the auto shop teacher at my high school look at it (he's an ASE master mechanic). He ran the codes and told me it was a P1130. He advised me to check the seal on the gas cap, go for a long drive on the freeway (I usually only drive short trips) and see if the light went out in a couple of days. I followed his advice, and sure enough, it did. But then I started having trouble starting my car, with the clock resetting to 1 AM. The shop teacher checked the battery (100% charged) only to find that one of the battery cables had not been connected tightly at all to the battery terminal. No trouble starting it since then.

Now, one week later, down to 1/4 tank of gas and my check engine light goes back on yesterday. I get gas this morning, tighten the cap with more than 3 clicks, drive for 5 miles and park. Get back in the car, start up, and the check engine light is off.

Does anybody have any idea what's going on?
