  1. Wow. There was a post a while back about an IS doing the same thing and I have heard of the ES doing it also. I doubt they will be able to tell anything from the crispy car but this will most likely spawn an investigation for Lexus whether they are willing or not. I'm curious to see what happens.

There's a recall for 07 and 08 models with the all weather mats, I wonder if this car had the all weather mats:

    Campaign Number: 07E082000

    Number of Vehicles Affected: 55,000

    Model Years Affected: 2007

    Date Owner Notified: 10/2007

Defect Summary: CERTAIN ALL WEATHER FLOOR MATS (AWFM) SPECIFICALLY SOLD AS AN OPTIONAL ACCESSORY FOR USE ON THE 2007 AND 2008 MODEL YEAR LEXUS ES350 AND TOYOTA CAMRY VEHICLES. THE AWFM INCLUDES TWO GROMMET HOLES AND RETAINING HOOKS (CLIPS) TO SECURE THE MAT TO THE VEHICLE'S CARPET. IF THE AWFM IS NOT SECURED BY ITSELF OR IF IT IS PLACED ON TOP OF AN EXISTING CARPETING FLOOR MAT, THE MAT COULD MOVE FORWARD DURING THE VEHICLE USAGE AND IT MAY INTERFERE WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL.

Consequence Summary: THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL MAY TEMPORARILY BECOME STUCK IN A PARTIALLY DEPRESSED POSITION WHEN RETURNING TO THE IDLE POSITION. IF THIS CONDITION OCCURS, IT MAY INCREASE THE POSSIBILITY OF A CRASH.

Corrective Summary: TOYOTA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS OF ALL 2007 AND 2008 LEXUS ES350 AND TOYOTA CAMRY VEHICLES ABOUT THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH NOT ALL OF THESE OWNERS WILL HAVE PURCHASED THE ALL WEATHER MATS. IF THE OWNER HAD NOT PURCHASED THE MATS, THEY ARE NOT AFFECTED BY THE RECALL. THIS LETTER WILL ADVISE OWNERS WHEN REPLACEMENT MATS WILL BE AVAILABLE OR HOW TO RETURN THE ALL WEATHER FLOOR MAT SET TO OBTAIN A REFUND. A SECOND LETTER WILL BE SENT AFTER MATS ARE AVAILABLE REQUESTING OWNERS TO RETURN THEIR MATS TO A LEXUS OR TOYOTA DEALER FOR EXCHANGE OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE MAT. THE FIRST LETTER IS EXPECTED TO BE SENT DURING EARLY OCTOBER 2007 AND THE SECOND IN LATE NOVEMBER 2007. OWNERS CAN CONTACT THE LEXUS CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER AT 1-800-255-3987 OR THE TOYOTA CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE CENTER AT 1-888-270-9371.

  2. Hey guys!, I have a 2008 ES350 that I need some help with on interior light setup. I want to activate the "Illuminated Entry" so I push the on/off button on the right side of the overhead, to on. All seems to work fine except.. the two small lights that shine down over the front console and the two in the rear overhead, never turn off. I am afraid of running the battery dead if I leave it like this. Is there a way to get those to go off after a few minutes etc?. I let it set last night for 2 hours and they were still on.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

    Greg

The only complaint I have with my ES 350 is the poor interior lighting and it's controlability. I have the opposite problem you do....I can't get the damn things to come on when I open the door.

  3. Here you go:

-With the car started (ignition on), set the LCD odometer readout to total mileage (not trip A or B).

    -Turn the car off.

-Push in AND HOLD the button/knob that switches the odometer

-Put the car in ACC mode (push start without your foot on the brake). You will notice the maintenance light blink and go out.

    -Release the odometer button/knob.

    -Turn the car off.

Thank you, I will give it a try! BTW, is that the button on the steering wheel or the knob that resets the trip odometer?

  4. I started using the maintenance system on the navigatyion screen and got the change oil indicator as expected. When I reset the data info for the next change the light did not go out. Am I missing something here? I have since turned off the maintenance schedule and the light still stays on. How do I turn this darn thing off....it's rather annoying to see it everytime the car is on. Thanks

  5. Those prices are insane...that's why I leased, I can just turn it in after the lease is over and walk away. Those scheduled maintenance visits will run in the several thousands of dollars over the years.....that's crazy. I bought a 1991 Z-24 new and said to myself I'm just going to replace what's broken, change oil and air filter. I ran that car 8 years and over 275,000 miles without a problem. Since then I have never wasted money on dealer service.....a well made vehicle doesn't need it. I ran a 2000 Chrysler 8 years with over 180,000 miles without a problem. That car even had the original battery and original headlight bulbs when I sold it.

  7. I own a 2007 ES350 and had the Tire Pressure Warning System light come on as outside temperature ahs dropped due to cold weather. I checked all pressure levels in all tires and then re-initialized the TPWS system. The buttom to do this on a 2007 ES350 is slightly out of site under the driver's side of the dash just past the Air Bag System panel. I followed the instructions in the owner's manual and the system was reset easily.

I had the same issue with my 07 ES350 and reset the system using that button. There are two buttons under there. The one on the right turns off the ABS and the one on the left resets the TPM. I held the button in and the warning light blinked three times and then went out. I then released the button, turned the car off and then restarted it and the light stayed off.

  8. I just bought an accidented Es350 from the US and brought it into Canada. Unfortunately, the guys who rebuilt it in the US were scoundrels and really did a poor job. For one, they put on the wrong windshield, the wrong front bumper and a wrong headlamp! All parts from the entry level ES350 and not the Premium car with HID headlamps, parking assist and the rain sensor.

My rain sensor is just hanging from its wires and I want to install it. I have the additional plastic "lens" but I would like to know from someone who has this option if that portion of the windshield where the sensor is installed is clear or is it installed over the black dots? As my windshield is for a car without this option, I don't have the bracket on the windshield. So do I have to scrape of some of those black dots on my windshield?

    Thanks

Mine is attached right over those black dots.

  9. I turned down the dealer offer (nearly $1000) to put side protection molding on my ES 350 to prevent dings. Has anyone had such molding put on their car at lower cost? Information appreciated.

I have been told that the ES 350 will run well on the grade below Premium. Any comments?

    Thanks, Bardonia

I was quoted $450 for the side molding from the dealer, I declined.

    I run my 350 on 87 octane with absolutely no problems...it's a lease :D

  10. Yep, Lexus now has a new Sirius kit.

My ES350 (2007) is at the dealer now having Sirius installed (again). Be aware that, according to the assistant service manager, the installation instructions call for the antenna to be placed INSIDE the vehicle, either on the windshield or rear window. This is in direct contradiction to Sirius' instructions. Initially, my antenna was placed next to the rear view mirror and, as a result, I kept losing the signal. The dealer is now trying to relocate the antenna on the outside of the car.

    Has anyone had similar issues?

My ES 350 has XM installed. Because of the panorama roof of the ultra luxury I needed a different antenna. The dealer placed it on the right corner of the trunk right where it meets the rear window. It is less than 1 inch square and works well. I'd rather have the body colored roof mounted one but that's just not possible with the glass roof. It works well and doesn't look to bad.

  11. I just leased an 07 ES 350 Ultra Luxury with Mark Levinson, XM radio, and PArking Assist. The sticker was a shade over $45,000. The lease was based on a "purchase price" of $40,600, which was about $800 over invoice. Best deal I could do considering the Ultra Luxury cars are very hard to find.

  12. Can anyone point in the direction of a discount online parts site for Lexus parts? The center console armrest of my one month old ES 350 has a big ink smudge on it. I tried leather cleaner and alcohol. It lightened up a bit but the alcohol left a brownish spot around the heaviest ink area. Most of the ink is gone but it is still noticeable. I know I will get charged at the end of the lease but more so I am anal and can't stand this blemish. The lexus dealer has one for $325. I have the ultra luxury package with the semi aniline leather (which I am guessing wasn't used on the console) in cashmere. Would I be better off just getting an upholstery shop to recover it and try and match the leather, or re-dye what is there?
