  1. My car was totaled. I'm selling the shop/service manual for $50 plus shipping. It's 2 volumes. Roland 251 six eight nine 4207 rmcphearson at yahoo dot com
  2. Well, I got in touch with a local Lexus tech and got it done. standard thread, just tight as a nun's c$%t. Roland
  3. I am trying to remove the camshaft pulleys on my "97 sc300 and the bolts are too tight for my impact gun to loosen. I have tried them in both directions and I'm not sure if they are standard or left-hand thread. The OEM repair manual does not mention which direction. HELP! I am stuck here at the shop tonight and need to get this done now. Roland
  4. '97 SC300. I've fixed all the usual suspects already: valve cover gasket, distributor o-ring, rear main seal. Now I've got a leak at the front of the engine somewhere. I pulled the timing belt cover and the tensioner. There is oil puddled in the depression in the water pump cover directly under the tensioner. There is also oil on the top of the water pump where it looks like it is sealed to the engine with rtv. So I'm thinking the rtv was not applied correctly when the water pump was replaced 2 years ago. I'm assuming that the oil is not coming from the tensioner, right? Am I on the right track? Thanks, Roland
  5. Thanks buddy. I hope that's it. That looks a lot easier! Roland
  6. grnsc40095, thanks. The guy I bought it from must have sprayed it before I test drove it because I went over some speed bumps during the test drive and heard no noise. Roland
  7. 97 sc300. I get a loud squeek/creeking noise from the front suspension when going over speed bumps at slow speeds. The car seems to handle fine to me, but if I ever sell it this could be a problem for the buyer. What is this and what should I do. Thanks in advance for your responses!!
  8. Smooth 1, the mechanic did say something about they already did some adjustments, maybe he was referring to what you call "tuning". I guess I'll just let it go for a while and see what happens. Thanks for your response!
  9. '97 sc300 114,000 miles. I had my dealer put a new rear main engine seal in and when I got it back I noticed its not shifting smoothly. I took it back and took the mechanic for a ride and he said it's smooth. "It doesn't get any better than that" he says. That's horse#$%. It wasn't doing that before, and my old dodge truck shifts much smoother. Someone told me they must have put new fluid in the tranny and this is the problem. And that I could add lubeguard(brand) friction modifier. My owner's manual calls for D-II or DEXRON III (DEXRON II). I've heard some people have this problem when the car called for toyota type 4 fluid and something different was added but could it also happen the other way around? (If they added toyota type 4 when my car needs type II or III) I'm not going to ask them what they added because I won't trust what they say anyway. Any suggestions? Should I flush or add the friction modifier or what?
