  1. The sticker price on my car was just a hair shy of $39,000 and ended up getting it at Crown Lexus in Ontario (granted I live in Newport). The price I got on it was $32,986 plus fees. so about $37,500 Out the door which is great considering youre still out the door with ALL The options at LESS THAN STICKER!!

I got the same dealership to quote me $40000 Out-The-Door (everything included) for IS350 (yes, Three Fitty) with the same options (NAV+XM). The sticker on it was around $43000, so about $47000 Out-The-Door.

However, when it came to my trade-in value they went a little low, so no deal yet.

Most other dealerships were able to match the price I was quoted once I showed them the email printout.

  2. Alrighty, it's a;; starting to make more sense now. I would like to upgrade my tires/rims, and alter the exhaust to something more dynamic... I'd also like to add a body kit... and those are actually my priorities with the car once I have it. Should I go with a base 350, or is there a recommended trim line? I prefer the aluminum interior to the wood grain, and I'd like the GPS system, but that's no hurry. Thanks.

    IS350 w/ X-Package.

BTW, when I inquired about the availability of the Sport Package, I was told it was 'discontinued' in 2007 - by all the dealers I spoke to about it...

  3. Hello everyone, I just bought an is250 this weekend. Smokey granite with black interior, Nav, 18" rims. Its a beauty and so many bells and whistles!

They offered a 7yrs/100,000 extended warranty, and I bargained it for $1300... the conditions were, it could be transferred if i ever sell the car and it could be refunded at anytime, pro-rated. If it were an american or european car the choice would be obvious. I was 50/50 on whether to get it or not so i went with it and hoped to error on the safe side. Do you think it was a good choice? Should i keep it?

I, for one welcome that move. I have purchased an extended warranty with my 7-series BMW and it paid for itself within the first 6 months of ownership. Granted Toyota makes the most reliable cars in the world, there is still that off-chance that something might go wrong - however little it is in a Toyota product. You just got yourself some peace of mind. And $1300 is not that much to pay for it, in my opinion.

I will definately consider buying extended warranty when it comes to purchasing an IS.

  4. Dodge Charger SRT-8

    425 horsepower

    4,200 pounds <--- 4,200 pounds!

    0-60 in 5.4 seconds

    60-0 in 120 feet

The IS350 has times in the low 5 second range.

It's most likely slightly quicker in a straight line going from 0-60 and definitely has the advantage on a curvy track.

I thought I read in Car & Driver that Charger SRT-8 did 0-60 in around 4.8s...

  5. I have not used the VAIS product so I can not provide you with any feedback. I did notice they have advertised on some other web sites and the product looks like it should work. Perhaps VAIS can provide you with a list of references. I have used a similar product from DICE Electronics on two previously owned cars (both BMW's). I have a known history with the company and have already purchased the kit for my IS350 w/o ML. The kit is going to be installed next Friday. I will post an update if you would like.

    Regards,

    NHman

Yes, and update would be much appreciated.

Can someone clearify this for me:

Without using any other adapters, how does one control an iPod connected through AUX input?

And what do you see on the screen when AUX source is selected?

Can you change tracks using the steering-mounted audio controls?

    Thanks!

  6. Heh don't get me wrong, I love bimmers as a matter of fact. An E46 M3 has been on list of most wanted cars for as far as I can remember. My girlfriend has a 2003 330ci and I love driving the wheels off of that thing. The only trouble is that on average, 4 years seems to be time frame before some sort of electronics or something else start to fail on the bimmers. We've had some issues with that car and I've heard one too many stories now of unreliability with them and that just makes me wary. The IS350 is already about $20k out of my price range so it's a big step for me and I NEED it to be reliable. Even the thought of blown turbos sends shudders down my spine.

I'm in the same boat. BMWs (pre-Bangle) are terrific driving vehicles. E36 and E46 were perhaps the best driving ones of them all. I love my E38. However, keeping it running is quickly outweighhing the benefits of having such a 'pimp' (:D) ride.

The only reason I don't drive an IS350 yet is that right now it's a little bit of a stretch for me financially. As soon as I can afford it, I will get it. Good luck to you and make sure you buy below 'invoice'!

  7. Ok here's what they came back with:

    Code | Item | MSRP | Invoice

    9510 IS 350 Luxury Sport Sedan - 6ECTi 35,705.00 30,349.00

    HL HID Headlamps 875 700

    NV Navigation System w/AM/FM/CD Changer 2550 2168

PT Premium Plus Package includes Perforated Leather 1290 1032

    XE X Package with Sunroof (IS250 RWD A/T and IS350) 1455 1164

    ?? Preferred Accessory Package 197 117

LR Rear Lip Spoiler 355 246

    Destination 715

Total invoice price (incl destination) comes to $36,491

On top of that, they want:

    Dealer Holdback 714

    Wholesale Financial Reserve 357

    TDA/advertising 446

This total comes to $38,008. According to them, THIS is the real invoice price.

    MSRP is $43,142

    Their final price: $40,000

After this, they've got dealer handing fess of $399 and then TTL + reg etc. That comes to $44,400 approx.

This is still way too much, right?

    Horrible, simply horrible deal!

I was quoted $40,000.00 Out-The-Door for a car that was identical, minus the X-Package (around $1100 or so). The car price would be $36,500.00 and some change. You should not be paying more than $41500 Out-The-Door for your car. If I can get that kind of a deal in freakin' Southern California, you sure as heck should be able to do at least the same in Colorado!

And remember, invoice doesn't mean squat. If the dealer tells you they get the car at invoice, they are flat-out lying you in the face. There is a special, DEALER PRICING and it is posted in this section of the forum. Use it to negotiate and don't settle for anything less than $1000 or so below the 'invoice'.

Good luck and...don't buy at this price!

  8. Maybe this is normal for Texas, but you can do much better in Southern California.

Last Thursday (Last day of the month), the lowest quote I got for MSRP $42,052 (NAV, Premium Plus, and Accessories) was for $37,400. This was in Ontario, CA. I didn't take this one.

The lowest quote I got for MSRP $45,732 (Luxury Plus, NAV, Mark Levinson, XM, Spoiler, and Accessories) was for $41,174. This was in Newport Beach, CA. I didn't take this one either.

I used these as leverage and I went with one with the Luxury Plus, NAV, Mark Levinson, Accessories and Dual Exhaust. I didn't want a rear spoiler. MSRP $46,391. I got it for $41,500.

The internet quote system was a great tool.

I was quoted $500 over invoice by Kearny Mesa Lexus (Penske) in San Diego. It would have worked out to $38500 for the IS350 with Luxury Plus, NAV, XM and parking sensors.

$37400 sounds like a good deal too, if you're not after certain package options, I guess.

  9. Also, the Total Cost to Own by Edmunds is less for the 350 compared to the TL (which doesn't even include the Type S, bigger engine, bigger brakes; overall higher cost to maintain).

I thought Acura TL had a smaller engine (than the IS350) ;)

Or does TL Type-S have a 3.5 now (which, BTW is still not bigger than the 3.5 in the IS)

  10. Hi, I'm new on the lexus forum I just bought a 2007ES350 in Feb and I love it. I also have a 1998 BMW 528i I love beemers but they have too many electrical problems. I want to know from Lexus IS owners if the IS handling is as good as BMW. The ES350 that I have is more of a family car the 528i handling is better on curves and high speed. I wonder about the more sporty Lexus IS.

I just test drove an IS350 over the weekend and can compare it to my 740i Sport and my co-worker's 335iA E90.

In short, no the IS is not as good in terms of pure 'handling' as the BMWs I drove. The steering is a bit light and the steering feel is somewhat artificial. Tires have plenty of grip, but in the BMW you can tell where the limits are and in the IS you have to rely on the stability control (which is really advanced, by the way).

BMWs seem a bit more balanced and fun-to-drive oriented. Lexus however would be my preference still. My 7-series is getting old and it is also getting 15mpg. 335i is hideous outside and plain cheap and unsatisfying inside. IS350 offers superb dynamics and the designers did a superb job on the exterior and the interior is top-notch. Features and amenities are aplenty. Everything (except for the interior door handles) has expensive touch to it. Even the standard sound system is head-and-shoulders better than my 'premium' sound in the 740i, not to mention 3-series' sub-par sound.

So, yes while in regards to pure road-hugging-wheel-gripping-tire-squeeling fun Lexus IS lags behind the BMWs, it makes up a lot of ground elsewhere.
