  1. I understand the thinking behind this prohibition but I believe myself capable of operating it while I am driving. I generlaly use the the voice recognition anyway. However, the process is sometimes tedious because one must use precise English diction and even then, incorrect numers or names are "heard" and executed by the system. When this happens, I have to cancel out the command and begin again. To be fair, I must say that the recognition in the ES350 is no worse than those in my former RL or M45.
  2. I purchased my ES340 in Arizona twelve days ago. The three dealerships in the county in which I live were within dollars of each other. Thus, even though the price I paid might be higher than other parts of the country, it is the going rate here. This is the breakdown of charges: MSRP $33,4 Rear Seat Side Airbags $250 Full Size Spare $$205 HID Headlamps w/AFS $815 Power Rear Sunshade $210 Navigation System $2,650 Wood & Leather Steering Wheel $330 Trunk mat, Cargo net, Wheel Locks $197 Delivery, processing and handling fee $715 Total paid $41,822 Also, FYI, they gave me KBB price for my trade-in.
  3. Not every car enthusiast is new at owning and driving a car. Believe it or not, there are a greater number of car enthusiasts who have passed that time of experience than those who still exist in their early years of enthusiasm. For those who want to own and drive a high-power car bursting with sport’s car performance and road-hugging handling, don’t buy a Lexus ES350. Instead, buy a car you will be happy with such as a Porsche, BMW or Infiniti M. However, if you no longer are stimulated by an adrenalin rush to take a corner at high speed and then fly down the highway accelerating to red-line, look no further than the ES350. The ES350 is an automobile rich in comfort, stylish in design, lavishly appointed and fully featured with advanced safety and technical features. In other words, it is a car for those who have matured beyond the age of youthful exuberance and want to be enveloped in a cocoon of luxury when they drive. This persona does not mean that the ES350 is underpowered or sluggish. To the contrary, its V6 engine quickly propels the car from a full stop, cruises at highway speeds without effort and thrusts to pass on the interstate with gusto when peddled to the floor. It does all of these things quietly, with stability and exquisite smoothness. Although it is not an automobile that stimulates the visceral senses, the ES350 is an automobile for those who want to possess a car of comfort and ambiance; a true luxury car at a reasonable cost. This low cost is a direct result of the ES350 and the Toyota Camry being the recipients of a similar basic design and engineering. Don’t be fooled thinking that the Lexus is a fluffed-up Camry. It isn’t. It is a far different car whose features and characteristics were built to appeal to an entirely different segment of the buying public. This engineering technique has been successfully employed in many other fields including aviation. The design, engineering, features, attributes and cost of the ES350 make it a fabulous buy within its class. I should know because I am well pleased to own one.
  4. I believe that everyone has missed the point of the thread about Camry vs ES350. The thing of importance is not cross-platform parts or shared frames, it is that Lexus dealership have better pastry and a better blend of coffee than Camry dealerships. I bought an ES350 one week ago after thorough comparisons with not Camry but with Acura, Infiniti, BMW and Mercedes. The ES350 simply had more to offer at a better price. It has formful style, luxurious appointments and excellent electronic technology and safety. The Camry looks nice but simply does not match the ES350 in overall ambiance. Besides, as I said before, Lexus dealerships have better refreshments.
  5. I bought my ES350 June 20. Exterior: StarFire Pearl. Interior: Cashmere. It is truly a beautiful automobile.
  6. Hello Dave I do all stop and go city driving. The longest stretch without stopping is almost 5 miles (if no traffic). My average from day one to last fill up on Saturday is 15.5MPG. I do not ever floor the M from a standing start. However, I do bring RPM's up when I want to fly past a slow car.
  7. Thank you for your reply. It confirms to me what I had thought about the handling of the GS compared to the Infiniti M. I found your comment about trunk size to be important. My wife and I do pile shopping goods and travel gear in the trunk of our car quite often. I just checked the dimensions of the GS and found it to be almost half the size of the M. Not good at all for us. My next step will be carefully look at the GS at a closeby dealer. Thank you again. I appreciate your response.
  8. Good morning I am considering the purchase of a GS450h. Reading mfg articles and talking to local dealer, I think that the GS450h is a exciting next step in automobile ownereship for me. For the past thirty years, I have owned and driven many top luxury automobiles. At present, I drive a 2006 INfiniti M45. It is a powerful performer that provides outstanding features. I wonder if a move from this to the GS450h will be a let down or a move upward. The performace figures that I have read for the Lexus are quite good. The appoitnments appear to be of quality. One thing that had been written that troubled me was the handling of the GS450h. I would appreciate comments from those who actually own and drive this new breed of Lexus. What are your opinions and recommendations to me. Thank you.
