  1. I have a problem with the above and searched all over but although the problem is mentioned no solution is evident. The problem is all the lighting is fine but on startup the tach & speedo stay at zero. A couple of big bangs on top of the dash usually brings if on, sometimes it comes on by itself after a few miles. I've had it out looking for bad connections and also the cluster was fully renovated a couple of years back. The odemeter and cruise work fine. Any ideas on this would be welcome. There is nothing in the sticky concerning this. It is not always both dials, it can be either or both.

  2. The engines were different from 97 and they are interference. If the timing belt goes it's a big expensive job so check if yours is the earlier one. If it is an earlier one I'd not worry for a while yet unless you are itching to spend some money. If it's the later one get it done asap or this gem may not be the bargain you thought.

  3. If I weren't so stupid I'd have done the search myself and given you a link but I thought you might get some pleasure from the answer yourself and actually learn something. Anyway as you aren't able to use the search function for one reason or another I'll help you out and do the search myself. You can see the link below. I'm sure that you aren't as stupid as me so you will know that clicking on that link will take you to a relevent thread and you'll find what you could be looking for. By the way if you want to use this site more often I suggest you curb your language or you'll end up getting banned, that wasn't a very thoughtful post you put in your first ever thread.

  4. Obviously thing is the battery or the alternator is starting to go. First it's best to take it to a battery place that will do an instant check for free. You should see if the alternator is wet. If it is then suspect a leak on the power steering. That is a well known fault and well documented on all LS400 sites.
