I have a 95 LS and the radio/CD player turns on but there is no sound. Fuses are good...Is it the Amp? If so, can I change that myself?

I have an 2003 SC430 and I haven't had any luck getting my Ipod hooked up. I went to the Vaistech website and they are sold out of the one I need. However, my local dealer told me they had bad luck with the ones they have installed. So I am just hoping to find a miracle here with someone that has been successful!! Any input would be greatly appreciated.
