  1. I have to also note that it would be illegal for me to buy a copied disc from you. Not that I'm saying....... I'm just saying :-). Andy
  2. Thanks for your help guys. I saw an aftermarket hitch (drawtite) on a highlander last night and did find it looked a little odd sticking out from under the RX compared to the factory one in the link above. I guess it won't matter if you were to put it on only when you need to tow something, which for me is once every two to three months. Andy
  3. Hi Lair, There is a buy & sell forum on the main page. I am sure it's O.K to list your Lexus items for sale there. There is also ebay and craigslist. As for how much to sell it, i really don't know. You may have to search the sell and buy forum for how much you can get for it. Why didn't you like your wood/leather wheel?. I have one on my RX300 and thought it's kind of nice, and easy to clean too. Good Luck. Andy
  4. Hello all, I am looking to purchase an after market tow hitch by Hidden Hitch (round tube or regular) and have come across a few unfavorable ratings for these after market hitches. They are mostly about the appearance of the hitch in relation to the overall appearance of the SUV. I am looking for any pictures with a Hidden hHtch round tube or the square frame hitch installed on a RX300, to see what they look like, installed. Thank you all in advance for all your help. Andy
  5. Hi Gruss, I have a 2.1 version in my '03as well, but it does not yet have my area on the database. Is the 6.1 version more updated than the 2.1 version?. Thanks for all your help. Andy Oopps, Never mind. I've found the answer. Andy

  7. I was in a similar situation yesterday. we look at the comsumer's reports and there is really no mention of trans problems or sludging. So, we went to Pohanka Lexus dealer in Chantilly Va. and bought a certified 2003 RX300 with 58K miles on the clock, 3 years/100K miles warantee, for $22,250. I suffered from buyers' remorse as well, but I got over that when I start to drive the car. From my limited experience about engine sludge, it seems it can be prevented by regularly changing the oil and use synthetic oil for it, as the previous posters said, which I always do in my cars anyway. You can pull the valve cover and look inside the cam housing for thick, heavy, black craps. For the trans problem, that's why I got a certified RX300 for and I do intent to change the trans fluid every 15000 miles. Congrats on the purchase and don't forget to enjoy the car. You'll get more of your money's worth out of it that way. Andy
  8. Thanks Kaz, We ended up with a Certified 58K miles 2003 RX300 from Pohanka Lexus in Chantilly, VA, last night. The good news is that I don't have to fix anything major on it for the next 70K miles as it has extended warrantee. The bad thing is that I don't have to fix anything on it until it goes out of warrantee. I'll chase down a hitch and a st of service manual for it. Thanks again for your help. Andy
  9. Hello all, I am new to this forum and would like to introduce myself. My name is Andy and I live in Ashburn, VA. I have been involved with Porsche 911s for the past 5 years and am a, somewhat, mechanically competent DIYer. I am contemplating on purchasing a particular used AWD RX300 (2001, 83K miles, asking for $15K). I have looked through the previous posts and picked up on the transmission problems of 99-2000 years. Would you know if the 2001s RX300 still have the same transmission problem, or did Lexus fixed it?. What are the other issues with a 2001 that I must look for, before the purchase?, and how DIY friendly are these cars?. Also, how are the RX300s on towing a 2000bls 911?. Also, what are the recommended service manuals for these cars?. Thank you all in advance for your help and I am looking forward to contribute to this forum in the future. Andy
