  1. I am tired of the overkill theft deterrent system on my 1992 LS400. I am not worried about my car being stolen or a valet taking change out of my glove box. I would like to disable it. This is obnoxious and has happened to me several times: 1.) When I leave my lights on and completely kill the battery, I have no way of getting in the trunk to get my jumper cables - bogus, had to take out the back speaker to fish them out a few weeks ago. 2.) Yesterday, I had the deterrent system on but did not know it, thought battery was dead since no starter motor, charged my battery an hour, still nothing when turned ignition key, asked neighbor for a jump start, nothing, no starter motor turn over, no solenoid click clicking, for a little while I thought oh no my starter was shot, but perplexed at no solenoid click clicking, also noticed lights were full when on to test, so odd at no juice to power the solenoid but plenty for rest of electric, finally thought about ti try theft deterrent system - tried lock/unlock door a few times on the door - poof, car started out fine in a second after wasting three hours thinking my battery was dead, getting an unnecessary jump start which did not work, or scared I may have needed a new starter. 1.) All I want is a simple key door lock, no alarm, no disable everything. Is there any simple way I can disable the overkill theft deterrent system so it is like normal car? 2.) Does anyone have a link to the manual on exactly how the theft deterrent system works? How it is set, how to turn it off, what sets it off, the purpose of key hole left under the steering wheel? A pdf file would be great, I bought th e car used. Thanks for any info. joepomykala@gmail.com
  2. It rained the days prior, but I have never had this problem before in the rain. I filled up my tank with fresh gas today to check, no change. Burning gas like crazy, half MPG, still little acceleration, slug up hills now versus massive power before when put on gas. I did replace my starter motor a year ago, cleaned throttle body well, but used old fuel injector wiring and had to tie together connections with wire for broken clips. Would one lose fuel injector wire cause this problem, or could it be a bad sensor? Pain to check injector wiring since have to take off intake manifold to get to passager side. What about the bad coils I have seen on other posts? It is odd, seems if a failure of some things my car would not run at all versus run like a slug, no back firing. Where is the fuel filter to check? Link to diagram? I could do a quick test and reverse it to clean/blow it out, but again unlikely since happened sudddenly.
  3. I have a 92 LS400. Suddenly I have a loss of power, rought low idle, sluggish and misfiring. smell some gas, gas pedal to floor and no immediate reaction. I checked the error codes and got Error codes 25 and 26 which are gas/air mixture being too lean or too rich. I cannot figure it out what to do next. I seached the forum, and saw some posts on the coils but do not know where they are located, also something about a possible short in the trunck hinge - any help, where should I look? What should I check? What would you do? What is the most common cause? thanks
  4. More info: What I am looking for are "Pintle Caps" for 23250-50010 fuel injectors.
  5. I just rebuilt my starter motor for my ‘92 LS400 at 100k miles. To access the starter motor, as people here know, I had to remove the throttle housing, intake manifold, fuel bars, and injectors. I am now ready to put my new rebuilt starter motor back in (cost less than $30 for rebuild kit/copper contacts and took 10 minutes). I purchased the gaskets and new fuel injector seals. However, at the bottom of the fuel injectors where it connects with the intake manifold, there is a thin plastic layer or cap on the fuel injector between it and the rubber seals. When I removed the injectors, the plastic linings were brittle and cracked, they fell apart when pulling out the injectors and/or removing the old bottom seals. I thought it could be replaced, but to my surprise find that there is no part and the plastic cap is not part of the seal set. I do not want to blow $400 on new fuel injectors, mine worked fine. Without the plastic layer cap, the rubber seal has a gap between it and the injector bottom. Does anyone know anywhere I can purchase the plastic caps which go on the bottom of the fuel injectors? or could I use a different rubber seal with a smaller inside diameter? or am I totally screwed and now need to buy new fuel injectors? Someone else has to have had this problem. Thanks for any info or advice.
  6. Hi, I have a 91 LS400 with about 120k miles and currently rebuilding/replacing the starter motor. I had to take all the fuel injection/intake manifold stuff off to access the starter motor. Last time I rebuilt an engine, cars had carburetors and I know nothing about fuel injection. Now, while I have everything acessable and am doing the starter motor, is there any other maintenence I should do such as clean or replace fuel injectors? My car ran fine before the starter motor died. If you do suggest cleaning or replacing fuel injectors, how is that done, or how much do you think parts will cost, or is it necessary? Anything else should I be doing while I have access? Thanks.
