I am tryting to determine how many of you out there are experiencing problems with HID headlights.
I have a 2004 RX330. It is at the dealership now for numerouse problems. One of witch is the HID's condensation problem,. When I last had it in I advised that the visibility was poor and they adjusted the height up slightly, this only made a small improvement.
They are replacing the HID's for me as a result. When I mentioned to the tech to ensure he aimed them higher again, he informed me that they have made significant IMPROVEMENTS to the HID" and they are aimed /positioned to offer better visibility. I will keep you posted.

Whats so bad about it? Mine seems fine to me.....I do notice with the way the rear is shaped it collects alot of dust, snow or whatever as you drive
Thanks for your interest. The rear wiper smears as opposed to clearing during swiping. This was presented to Lexus when I first had the car delivered. The advisor remarked that they were aware of this problem as it was discussed at a recent service advisor conference. He indicated that they need to redsign the blade assembly due to the contour of the rear window. My vehicle was built in Japan, in April las year.
Any idea??

so i'm not going crazy! we should start a support group or something
mine is an '05 and i've noticed the same thing.
I found the service report for the replacement "door and glass run"
Quote-
Condition: Wind noise heard
Cause: excessive clearance glass run
Correction: Replaced door and glass run
Part # QTY 1 68141-48030 Run,glass
QTY 1 68151-48030 Run,glass
Thats all I have . Apparently they made an improvement to the part. I noticed one small thing about the change. It appears that a small triangular piece of rubber is used as a wind deflector of some kind on the forward part of the Gasket.
It is not noticeable unless you look closely.
I hope this helps :)
There is also a replacement for the door checks. They tended to be noisy and not operate smoothly.

I have had my 04' Rx 330 for over a year now and they tell me that they are working on getting an improved rear winshield wiper , that will actualy be able to clean the rear windshield! They have acknowledged the problem , but have not yet advised a fix.
Any word out there??
Thanks

I doubt that will fix the wind problem!
What I think it is, is the groove the windows goes into was cut too short so the window is pushing the seal out of place. The new seals will have a deeper groove in them allowing the window not to push up on the seal.
Definatly a problem that needs to be fixed......
adman@nefco::: Can you get us the part numbers for both windows please....Thanks
I am going to the dealer for my 24000 KM maint on Monday Nov 08. I will ask my mechanic about the part and advise.

Cuda,
I've noticed the same issue with my 05 RX, too. Is your RX 04 or 05 model? I will talk to the dealer in my 1000mi checkup.
I have and 04' RX330. There is a redesign of the window seal that the tech ordered and installed for me on my vehicle. Both front windows were replaced and it is much improved.
I hope this helps

I thought I would share with you the info I pulled from ALLDATA.
I have an 04 RX 330. I purchased it last may and am still trying to get the dealer to address the wine /thump as well as the hesitation issues with the tranny. I have had the Dash rattle "fixed" twice and cant wait for winter to set in , so I can do it all over again
Anyways this is what I have for you and I am arming myself with it when i meet with the dealer this week.

I am looking for your reviews on replacement tires. I have replaced the OEM tires with dunlop SP270 225-55-17. They only lasted about 18000 miles! Has anyone replaced the OEM tires with anything else? I am considering the Michellin Hydroedge or the same OEM 's again.
HELP!

I still have the paper work "open" at the dealer as they are still needing to attend to one small item. I am back on tuesday next week to complete and I will post what the work order indicated.

I had my compressor replaced at 500 miles , due to a verry irritating buzzing noise when it was on. They replaced the compressor and indicated that they had a few problems.
Hope this helps

Rx Lover,
I had the same problem resolved on my 2004 Rx 330. The mechanic at my dealership had said that there was a redesign on these moldings and he ordered the replacements. They were installed and all is well now. He is a master mechanic with over 10 years with Lexus. They also have a redisn on the front door hinges , to alleviate the clicking or noises when openong and closing the doors. this was replaced for me as well. Go get em!

I have the same issue and heard the same thing since last May.Apparently this is a carry over from the previouse model as well as the ES model.Good luck.........

kEVINCLEE,
How did the repair go? Is the clunking fixed ? I would be interested in getting a copy of the TSB for all you mentioned. Can you post a PDF ? or can you fax it ?
Please advise
Thanks
-
Can you please provide the TSB #? Or if not , at least what the fix was ?
I am experiencing the same clunk and would love to have it go away
Thanks

It's been a while since i have done this. The rear cap is located at the rear of the roof rails . This needs to be snapped off FIRST , to expose the "screws " that lock the rails in place. You have to manipulateand snap them as if a trim panel was being removed. Once off you will see the screws that need to be removed. remember to note the direction and location of these rails , as they ARE not able to be put back on in any order , without causing extensive wind noise.
If you have truble , I would suggest you have the dealer remove then for you. They should dmonstrate this at N/C.
Good luck

Is it possible to remove the cross beams from the roof rails on a 2004 RX 330. I know they slide forward and back and as I don't plan to tie anything on the roof having them removed might improve gas mileage which is terrible on the new RX 330.
In order to remove the roof rails , you must first unscrew the rear cap. Once this is done you will need to grab this rear cap and carefully "snap
' it off. Then simply slide the rails off. Make sure you note the position/direction, of the rails as the are NOT unidirectional , and not factory marked as such. I learnt this from experience. If they are not put back on the same way , you will end up with wind noise.
Good Luck

I brought my 2004 RX 330 in 2 weeks ago as the same problem developed with my Moonroof(single roof). They tried to fix it , but only made the problem worse. I was not able to tilt the roof or it would not close! They ordered a "rail" for the roof and it has finally come in (2 weeks). I am now reluctant to have it serviced , fearing the same horrible fate as you!
Can you please be more specific as to what part they ordered that is taking so long ??? Was it the "pins" or the rail ?
I will wait until you post a reply.
Thanks :(

I think the resonating sound you are refering to is related to the A/C condensor fan. Try turning the A/C compressor off and see if this eliminates this problem. I took a road test with the tech and he determined that it was a noisy A/C compressor. I had the compressor replaced, but the problem still persisted. In another posting, A owner had the compressor replaced and the same thing . It apparently was further determined by the tech to be a condensor fan and clutch.
the tech said he expected a TSB or recall on this shortly.
Good luck to us all !

I own a 2004 RX 330 sport. I have had 2 annoying noises since i took delivery in June. The first was a jingle/rattle from the rear area of the car. It appeared to be coming from the rear seat assmbly. After 3 visits to the dealer and several road tests , the dealer had a bright idea, Lets take the car for a drive and put another tech in the back seat ! Well the rattle was located and determined to be a wiring harness for the rear dome light assembly under the roof liner that was loose. I am now facing the same problem you described and cant wait to go through this again. It seems to be coming from the in dash cup holder, located on the left of the steering wheel . when I press on the holder the sound seems to go away. I will let you know how it turns out. If you find out anything on your end keep us posted .
Good Luck.

I had the software upgrade performed on the vehicle and at fist I thought it was an improvement, although my opinion of this fix quickly turned the other way. The tranny is awful. Verry poor ,rough shifting for a Lexus. They had better get a fix real soon or I will have to sell as it is way to annoying . I would have never expected this from a Lexus.

I have a 2004 Rx 330 Sport. I noticed a buzzing noise coming from the engine when the A/c is switched on as the engine speed is reducing from 50mph to 20mph. They said it was a compressor problem , when the coolant is being bled out. They replaced the compressor and it was acceptable initialy.I am now finding this problem is coming back . Any other people haveing the same problem? Anyword from your dealer on this ?

I would agree. The issues with the Rx330 are separate from the wear and tear and
maintenance issues with the RX300 used car marketplace.
Perhaps the moderators should poll the issue. Kind of like a referendum. :)
